This role will be responsible for the administration, support, optimisation, and modernisation of Broadcom Datacom databases that underpin key business and customer services.\nThe successful candidate will work closely with application development teams, infrastructure engineers, database administrators, and regional stakeholders to ensure the stability, security, resilience, and performance of Datacom-based solutions. Given collaboration with teams across Spain and Latin America, Spanish language skills are highly desirable.\nThis role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continued evolution of a strategic mainframe estate while supporting integration with modern engineering and DevOps practices.\nPrincipal Responsibilities:\nDatabase Administration & Support:\nAdminister and maintain Broadcom Datacom databases within a z/OS environment.\nPerform database provisioning, configuration, monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning.\nExecute database backup, recovery, reorganisation, and maintenance activities using Datacom utilities.\nMonitor database availability and proactively resolve performance and operational issues.\nSupport incident, problem, and change management processes in accordance with company standards.\nEnsure database resilience, integrity, and regulatory compliance requirements are met.\nMainframe Engineering:\nSupport IBM z/OS infrastructure and associated mainframe technologies.\nWork with JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, CICS, and batch processing environments.\nAnalyse system and application performance using available monitoring and diagnostic tools.\nParticipate in disaster recovery testing and business continuity exercises.\nCollaborate with infrastructure teams to implement upgrades, patches, and platform improvements.\nApplication Support & Development:\nSupport Datacom-based applications developed in COBOL and other mainframe technologies.\nWork with development teams on database design, access path optimisation, and query performance.\nReview and support application releases into testing and production environments.\nTroubleshoot application and database-related incidents across the software development lifecycle.\nContribute to code reviews and technical design discussions.\nModernisation & Continuous Improvement:\nAssist with the integration of Datacom environments into modern engineering toolchains.\nSupport API enablement, automation initiatives, CI/CD adoption, and DevOps practices.\nIdentify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through scripting and automation.\nContribute to strategic initiatives involving cloud connectivity, application transformation, and mainframe modernisation.\nMaintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.\nEssential Skills & Experience:\nDatacom Expertise:\n\nStrong hands-on experience supporting Broadcom Datacom (CA Datacom) databases.\n\nKnowledge of Datacom architecture, utilities, database structures, and performance tuning.\nExperience with database backup, recovery, reorganisation, and capacity management.\nUnderstanding of database security, access control, and audit requirements.\nMainframe Technologies:\n\nExtensive experience in IBM z/OS environments.\nStrong working knowledge of:JCL\nTSO/ISPF\nSDSF\nCICS\nVSAM\nRACF\nMainframe batch processing\n\nFamiliarity with system monitoring and diagnostic tools.\nDevelopment & Engineering:\n\nExperience supporting applications developed in COBOL.\nGood understanding of relational database concepts and data modelling.\nKnowledge of software development lifecycle and change management processes.\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\nProfessional Skills:\nAbility to analyse complex technical issues and provide sustainable solutions.\nExcellent stakeholder management and communication skills.\nExperience working within large, enterprise-scale financial services or highly regulated environments.\nStrong documentation and knowledge-sharing capabilities.\nPreferred Skills & Experience:\nFluent or professional working proficiency in Spanish.\nKnowledge of the banking, payments, or financial services sector.\nExperience with DevOps tooling and automation frameworks.\nExposure to modern API integration and application modernisation initiatives.\nExperience with Agile delivery methodologies.\nFamiliarity with Git, Jenkins, Ansible, UrbanCode, or similar deployment and automation tools.\nUnderstanding of hybrid cloud and distributed platform integration with mainframe environments.\nBroadcom Datacom certifications or equivalent practical experience\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.\nRelevant Mainframe, IBM Z, Broadcom Datacom, or database certifications desirable.\n Candidates must be legally authorized to live and work in the country where the position is based, without requiring employer sponsorship.\nHelloKindred is committed to fair, transparent, and inclusive hiring practices.
