The market is forming around us, making it an exciting time to join!\nRole Overview\nWe're seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Dynamic Copay team. You'll work on our Dynamic Copay Engine - the core component that powers upfront pricing for health plan members. This is a high-impact role where you'll own critical services from day one, working at the intersection of claims processing and real-time pricing logic.\nTeam Context\nThe Dynamic Copay Engine works closely with our Claims Engine team, which owns our claims processing pipeline and adjudication integrations. You'll work closely with the team lead and other engineers to build, scale, and harden the systems that sit at the center of our product.\nResponsibilities\nOwn the development, testing, and production support of the Dynamic Copay Engine services\nDesign and implement pricing logic, rules engines, and configuration systems that power upfront member pricing\nBuild and maintain integrations with claims adjudication workflows\nWrite performant queries and manage data across PostgreSQL, Redis, and BigQuery\nCollaborate with product and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into reliable, scalable backend services\nParticipate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and incident response\nContribute to the on-call rotation for production systems\nRequirements\n4+ years building, owning, and maintaining backend services\n2+ years writing Go\nStrong SQL skills, particularly in PostgreSQL\nExperience with Redis and BigQuery (or similar analytical databases)\nDocker/Kubernetes\nGoogle Cloud Platform\nPreferred Qualifications\ngRPC/Protobuf experience\nExperience with thorough testing strategies\nHealth insurance or claims processing experience\nTerraform/Terraform Cloud\nPython proficiency\nIncident management and response experience\nStartup experience\nCharacteristics\nSelf-directed and comfortable owning a domain end-to-end\nMission-driven - motivated by making healthcare simpler and more transparent\nWilling to ask questions and admit what you don't know\nComfortable working in a fast-moving codebase where requirements evolve quickly\nInternal Tools/Technology\nCursor / Linear / GitHub / Notion / Whimsical\nSlack / Google Workspace / Zoom\nIncident.io / Sentry\nClaude, ChatGPT, Gemini - we are an AI-forward engineering team\nmacOS / Linux\nCompensation\nThe target base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $225,000 and is part of a competitive total rewards package including equity and benefits.
