processing and other optimisation techniques where they are needed\nWrite clean, testable, maintainable code backed by solid automated test coverage\nInvestigate and resolve complex technical and performance issues\nCollaborate closely with the Solution Architect, AQA, Manual QA and Front-end engineers\nDesign solutions with performance, scalability, reliability and maintainability in mind\nBuild what the product actually needs and avoid over-engineering\nWeigh cost, performance and development effort when making technical decisions\nQuestion unnecessary complexity and look for pragmatic solutions\nThrive in a lean, fast-paced, start-up-like environment where requirements keep evolving\nWhat we are looking for\n5+ years of strong commercial experience with Python and modern Python frameworks\nAbility to design and develop robust, scalable backend services and APIs\nExperience building efficient solutions for large-scale data processing, transformation and aggregation\nStrong knowledge of SQL and relational databases, including query optimisation and data modelling\nExperience with REST APIs, service integration and asynchronous/background processing\nSolid understanding of software architecture and engineering principles, beyond framework-level development\nAbility to analyse technical problems and choose the most suitable solution\nConfidence working with complex data models and business logic\nStrong focus on performance and efficiency, especially when processing large datasets\nUnderstanding of the trade-offs between simplicity, scalability and maintainability\nNice to have\nStrong engineering fundamentals, a pragmatic approach and a dislike of unnecessary complexity\nReadiness to take ownership of technically challenging backend and data-processing problems and deliver robust, efficient solutions that can grow with the
