Our mission is to protect our democracies. We aim to achieve technological leadership, so that open societies can continue to make sovereign decisions and control their ethical standards.\nAs democracies, we believe we have a special responsibility to be thoughtful about the development and deployment of powerful technologies like AI. We take this responsibility seriously.\nWe are an ambitious and committed team of engineers, AI specialists and customer-facing programme managers. We are looking for mission-driven people to join our European teams, and apply their skills to solve the most complex and impactful problems. We embrace an open and transparent culture that welcomes healthy debates on the use of technology in defence, its benefits, and its ethical implications.\nThe role\nAs a Flight Control Systems Engineer, you will shape and deliver a fly-by-wire flight control system, from first architecture sketch to first flight. You will define the system, guide it through every development stage with our engineering teams and industrial partners, and see it integrated onto the flying platform. Certification sits at the heart of the work: you will build the safety and compliance evidence that allows our aircraft to fly. You will collaborate with a team of specialists across avionics, software, safety and programme management, and your decisions will set the technical direction for a capability that European armed forces depend on.\nThe day-to-day\nDefine the system architecture and requirements baseline for flight control, vehicle management and flight management functions, in collaboration with internal teams and industrial partners\n\nSteer the systems engineering lifecycle from requirements capture through integration, verification and qualification, keeping delivery aligned with programme milestones\n\nProduce certification and compliance evidence to ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-178C and DO-254, ensuring the platform meets aviation and regulatory standards\n\nCoordinate avionics hardware and software integration with suppliers and partners, resolving technical risks before they reach the flight test campaign\n\nReport progress, trade-offs and technical changes to Chief Engineering and Programme Management, so decisions are made on clear evidence\n\nYou should apply if you\nHave designed and developed flight control hardware and software for an airborne platform, covering systems engineering, safety and avionics integration\n\nApply system-level (ARP4754, ARP4761) and item-level (DO-178C, DO-254) standards to safety-critical systems in practice, not just in principle\n\nBring deep knowledge of flight control laws and air vehicle management systems\n\nHave taken a system through certification with a civil or military aviation authority\n\nCommunicate technical results clearly to engineers, partners and non-specialist stakeholders alike\n\nNote: We operate in an industry where women, as well as other minority groups, are systematically under-represented. We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet all the listed qualifications; ability and impact cannot be summarised in a few bullet points.\nNice to have\nHave worked on uncrewed or optionally crewed platforms\n\nUse model-based systems engineering tools and methods in your day-to-day practice\n\nWhat we offer\nCompetitive salary and VSOP options\n\nRelocation support: up to €2,500 and 4 weeks temporary accommodation\n\nLearning: €500/£450 yearly allowance\n\nHealth & wellness: gym membership and mental health support (Nilo.health)\n\nSocial: regular company events and monthly social allowances\n\nEnhanced parental leave: 22 weeks fully paid for primary caregivers & 6 weeks for secondary caregivers\n\nFamily support: 5 days of paid family emergency leave, 100% remote work option during pregnancy and phased return to work\n\nThese are the core benefits across all locations; there may be additional benefits in specific sites.\nHelsing is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability or gender identity. Please do not submit personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, data concerning your health, or data concerning your sexual orientation.\nHelsing's Candidate Privacy and Confidentiality Regime can be found here.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4430,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Company events","Gym membership","Parental leave"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"Germany","iso":"DE","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":true,"industries":["Electrical & Electronic Engineering","Avionics & Flight Control","National Security","Military Drones"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-21T08:14:47Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":6,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.229,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":303,"expected_fill_days":72,"reasons":["conf:1","stale_co","velocity","win:tail","crowd:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-10-23T05:54:15Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/helsing-flight-control-systems-engineer-2","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/helsing-flight-control-systems-engineer-2.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-23T23:03:50Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":6235,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-24T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":4739},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=4739"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fhelsing-flight-control-systems-engineer-2"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fhelsing-flight-control-systems-engineer-2"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fhelsing-flight-control-systems-engineer-2"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/helsing-flight-control-systems-engineer-2\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fhelsing-flight-control-systems-engineer-2"}]}
