We are growing our US operations, cultivating an ambitious and committed team of mission-driven professionals to apply their skills to solve challenging problems. \nThe role\nAs Senior Electronics Engineer, you will design and integrate electronics for a next-generation loitering munition system being developed for the U.S. Army. You will work across the vehicle’s boards and electronic subsystems, connecting hardware that must operate as one system. Your work will span printed circuit board (PCB) design, integration of existing electronics, and the data signals that pass between components.\nYou will help decide when a board should be designed, adapted, or sourced. You will then take the selected option through integration. For custom hardware, you will design circuits. You will bring up the boards and test their interfaces. For sourced hardware, you will assess fit before integration. You will diagnose problems across connected systems. You will work with systems, software, and hardware engineers to define interfaces that each team can implement and test.\nThis is a hands-on senior engineering role with a broad view of vehicle electronics. As the team grows, you may take primary hardware design responsibility for a specific electronic component. The position is based in Washington, DC, with a hybrid work arrangement.\nThe day-to-day\nDesign PCBs and take board designs through schematic, layout, build, and test.\nCompare custom, adapted, and sourced electronics against system needs to inform design or buy decisions.\nIntegrate electronic boards and subsystems into the vehicle’s hardware.\nDefine data and signal interfaces with the engineers responsible for connected systems.\nDiagnose faults during board bring-up and system integration.\nRun bench and ground tests to verify board and interface performance under expected operating conditions.\nDesign for electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC), then support related testing.\nSupport field operations when electronic hardware needs integration or troubleshooting.\nWork with mechanical, manufacturing, systems, and software engineers to fit electronics into the vehicle and resolve interface issues.\nYou should apply if you\nHave at least ten years of experience developing electronic hardware for complex products, such as vehicles, robots, or other integrated systems.\nHave designed PCBs and taken board designs through build and hardware test.\nHave integrated electronic boards into larger systems, whether the boards were developed in-house or sourced.\nCan define and verify data and signal interfaces between electronic components.\nCan diagnose board-level and system-level electrical problems.\nCan assess when to design, adapt, or source electronic hardware and carry the selected solution through integration.\nCan work across hardware, software, and systems teams to resolve integration problems.\nHave hands-on soldering experience with electronic components or boards.\nHave experience with EMI/EMC testing and designs that protect circuits from interference.\nAre a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.\nNote: We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet all the listed qualifications; ability and impact cannot be summarized in a few bullet points. \nNice to Have\nHave fifteen or more years of relevant electronics engineering experience.\nHave worked on electronics for unmanned systems.\nHave hands-on circuit design experience with components such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, and integrated circuits.\nJoin Helsing and work with world-leading experts in their fields \nHelsing’s work is important. You’ll be directly contributing to the protection of democratic countries while balancing both ethical and geopolitical concerns\n\nThe work is unique. We operate in a domain that has highly unusual technical requirements and constraints, and where robustness, safety, and ethical considerations are vital. You will face unique Engineering and AI challenges that make a meaningful impact in the world\n\nOur work frequently takes us right up to the state of the art in technical innovation, be it reinforcement learning, distributed systems, generative AI, or deployment infrastructure. The defense industry is entering the most exciting phase of the technological development curve. Advances in our field of world are not incremental: Helsing is part of, and often leading, historic leaps forward\n\nIn our domain, success is a matter of order-of-magnitude improvements and novel capabilities. This means we take bets, aim high, and focus on big opportunities. Despite being a relatively young company, Helsing has already been selected for multiple significant government contracts\n\nWe actively encourage healthy, proactive, and diverse debate internally about what we do and how we choose to do it. Teams and individual engineers are trusted (and encouraged) to practice responsible autonomy and critical thinking, and to focus on outcomes, not conformity. At Helsing you will have a say in how we (and you!) work, the opportunity to engage on what does and doesn’t work, and to take ownership of aspects of our culture that you care deeply about\n\nWhat we offer\nA focus on outcomes, not time-tracking\n\nA generous compensation and benefits package (in addition to base salary) that includes, but may not be limited to, insurance coverage (medical and travel), flexible paid time off, paid holidays, and remote and/or hybrid work available depending on position. All compensation and benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of the underlying plans or programs, as applicable and as may be amended, terminated or superseded from time to time.\n\nGrowth toward global roles in our Finance organization\nThe base salary offered to the successful candidate will be determined by a variety of factors including relevant experience, qualifications, education, skill level, interview performance, and the level and scope of the position. \nHelsing is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
