Roach on May 17, 1993, the firm continues to grow.\n Successful law firm seeks an attorney to defend Workers' Compensation cases in Illinois and Missouri to join our St Louis, MI office.\nEssential Job Functions:\n· Gathering medical evidence and medical records\n· Taking depositions of the claimant, physicians, medical experts and other parties\n· Conducting discovery\n· Performing legal research\n· Remaining current with developments in the law\n· Drafting pleadings, findings of fact, motions, briefs, opinions and other legal documents\n· Litigating cases before a workers' compensation judge or referee\n· Represent the interests of the employer or insurer at hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations and other proceedings\n· Communicate with claims representatives\n· Monitor loss run reports for trends and increases and alerts management to concerns\n· Assist with the investigation of accidents and problem areas\n· Manage workers' compensation costs to reduce liability\n· Compile and submit reports required by company management\n· Coordinate and attend claims reviews\n· Negotiate settlements on behalf of the insurance company\n· Other related duties as assigned to EEO guidelines\n · J.D. and Missouri or Illinois bar license.\n· Working knowledge of legal principles and practices.
