Hennessy & Roach, P.C. is a growing and dynamic firm with an eight-state footprint (WI, IN, IL, MO, NE, IA, KS and TN).\nAll candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in both Missouri and Kansas.\nEssential Job Functions:\nGathering and reviewing medical evidence and medical records.\nTaking depositions of the claimant, physicians, medical experts, and other parties.\nPerforming legal research.\nRemaining current with developments in the law.\nDrafting pleadings, findings of fact, motions, briefs, opinions, and other legal documents.\nLitigating cases before a workers' compensation judge or referee.\nRepresent the interests of the employer or insurer at hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings.\nCommunicate with claims representatives.\nMonitor loss run reports for trends and increases and alerts management to concerns.\nAssist with the investigation of accidents and problem areas.\nManage workers' compensation costs to reduce liability.\nCompile and submit reports required by company management.\nCoordinate and attend claims reviews.\nNegotiate settlements on behalf of the insurance company/employer.\nOther related duties as assigned.\n J.D. and licensed in Kansas or Missouri required.\nExperience in workers’ compensation defense work or general litigation is a plus.\nIn depth knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations.\nThorough knowledge of legal research techniques and legal terminology.\nMicrosoft Word experience required; Time Matters legal software experience preferred.\nFirm and client confidentiality required.\n Benefits include: Medical, Dental, Vision, Group Term Life Insurance, Voluntary Term Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident, HSA, FSA, pre-tax Transit and pre-tax Parking. 401(k)/Roth retirement plan with company match.
