OHIP, WSIB, Out-of-Province, Community, Third Party agencies (i.e., Blue Cross), Private Insurance, Preferred Accommodations and other Health Care Institutions.\nCreate, review and process all Client Billings in an accurately and timely manner (i.e., Retail vendors, Partner hospitals, Union Billings, Research billings, Physician, Miscellaneous clients).\nLiaise with insurance companies to coordinate payment and settlement of patient accounts.\nGenerate and review Aged Accounts Receivable report and perform collection activity on overdue accounts. Includes all Patient and Client Accounts.\nLiaise with Health Records Department, Clinical Teams, or other hospital departments as required to address patient account issues and facilitate billing and collections.\nLiaise with WSIB / UHIP / Blue Cross, or any other provider to rectify unpaid / rejected accounts.\nIdentify claims for adjustment and / or write-offs.\nAccurately develop and document Financial Agreements when deemed necessary (i.e., Uninsured Patient Accounts). \nPerforms collection and payment functions during various department rounding in a prompt, efficient and timely manner (Inpatient Units, Outpatient Clinics, Emergency Department, Medical Imaging)\nCollect pertinent patient, payment and insurance information to assist with billing, collections and payment from Unit rounding\nPrint bills, statements, and cheques for accuracy prior to sending to patients / clients\nSort and collate outgoing and incoming mail (i.e., statements, collection notices, cheques)\nUpdate patient demographics and insurance information to ensure accurate billings \nObtain credit / debit card payments over telephone upon patient request\nCoverage of other Finance clerk tasks as per operational requirements\nCross train team members \nWork with other team members to coordinate responsibilities, and prioritize tasks, ensuring all important deadlines are met. \nProvides excellent customer service to all internal and external stakeholders using appropriate communication methods to respond in a timely, helpful, and courteous manner. \nResponds to all types of billing and payment inquiries in a calm, patient, and courteous manner. Inquiries are in-person and over the phone for patients, families and insurance companies.\nRetrieve and follow-up on all voicemails in a timely manner.\nPrepares bank deposits, process remote cheque deposit and post to the accounting system daily \nAssist in month-end closing procedures.\nClear bank reconciliation outstanding items and intercompany reconciliations\nAll other duties as assigned \nQualifications\nDegree in Business Administration / Accounting\nMinimum of 2 years work experience in Accounting and managing various type of customers and billing issues (preferably in a hospital /medical environment) \nIntermediate level of skills in MS Office (Excel, Word), email, internet and experience navigating software applications required (screen access, information search, data entry). Knowledge of databases preferred.\nMathematical aptitude required \nExcellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written (English language)\nDemonstrated attention to detail, problem solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions when dealing with various customers\nAssertiveness, diplomacy and good judgement\nAbility to work effectively in a team environment\nAbility to work independently\nAbility to prioritize workload to meet deadlines\nExcellent attendance and discipline free record required \nAn understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.
