At Humber River Health, or Telecommunications team plays a pivotal role in matters relating to locating, voicemail, pagers, telephone handsets, hands-free devices, assisted devices and the telephone network. We are currently seeking a Switchboard Operator to join our Telecommunications Department. This individual will process a high volume of incoming and outgoing calls, including assisting with patient inquiries and paging of support staff and/or Physicians. If you answered yes to any of the questions above, we invite you to read the details below and apply to this exciting career opportunity and Humber River Health.\nEmployment Status: Part-time Hours of Work: Available to work all rotating shifts(Days, Evenings, Nights & Weekends)Location: Wilson siteLabour Group: Teamsters Clerical Reporting Relationship: Manager, TelecommunicationsHourly Rate: $28.072-- $29.070\nPosition Responsibilities:\nProcess very high volume of incoming and outgoing calls including assistance with patient inquiry quickly and as efficiently as possible. \nProcess and assist on outgoing calls and page all support staff and /or Physicians as required.\nLocate physicians and on-call staff for multiple departments and ensure on-call staff is contacted as quickly and as efficiently as possible within individual program protocol.\nProvide batteries for Physicians, and signing out of spare pagers. \nAssist with orientation and training of new telecommunication staff.\nQualifications:\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills required\nA positive attendance record required\nPrevious experience on Avaya phone system and console in a health care / hospital environment\nDemonstrated customer service and telephone skills required, one year experience preferred.\nHigh school graduate or equivalent.\nGood organizational and problem solving skills required, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize a varied and busy workload with frequent interruptions and emergency situations.\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision in a team environment.\nKnowledgeable and compliant of new privacy legislation.\nKnowledge of a second language an asset.\nGood keyboarding skills, with minimum typing speed of 40 WPM. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. \nKnowledge of PETALMD software.\nMeditech experience an asset. \nExcellent attendance and discipline free record required.\nAn understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.
