This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Statutory and US GAAP financial reporting, maintaining compliance with internal and external requirements, and contributing thought leadership that strengthens our accounting operations.\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities\nLead, manage, and coordinate daily accounting and financial reporting activities, including month-end close, balance sheet reviews, and preparation of financial statements.\n\nSupervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members, including temporary staff and interns.\n\nSupport the design, documentation, and testing of internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.\n\nOversee the preparation and timely submission of quarterly and annual Statutory filings.\n\nMaintain strong controls over the general ledger environment.\n\nManage the month-end close process, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial results; review and approve journal entries and monthly account reconciliations.\n\nResearch complex accounting matters and provide recommendations in accordance with Statutory accounting principles and US GAAP.\n\nEnsure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and corporate accounting policies.\n\nPrepare monthly financial statements and variance analyses; contribute to developing management reports and operational metrics.\n\nCoordinate annual Statutory and GAAP audits; serve as a key liaison with external auditors, state regulators, and support triennial exams.\n\nMonitor and protect company assets, including accounts receivable.\n\nSupport capital adequacy assessments and respond to inquiries from regulators and rating agencies.\n\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.\n\nMinimum of 7 years of relevant accounting experience, including at least 5 years in property and casualty insurance.\n\nStrong knowledge of Statutory accounting principles required; US GAAP experience essential.\n\nProven leadership, strategic thinking, and presentation skills.\n\nDemonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.\n\nAdvanced proficiency in Excel.\n\nGeneral Information:\nAll employees must pass a pre-employment background check.
