You will work closely with engineers and technicians to identify manufacturing challenges, investigate root causes, and implement improvements across structural fabrication and assembly processes.\nSpring: Around 16 weeks (January - April)\nSummer: Around 12 weeks (May - August)\nResponsibilities:\nSupport the development and improvement of manufacturing processes for aircraft structures and hardware.\nWork hands-on with sheet metal, welded assemblies, tooling, and other manufacturing equipment on the factory floor.\nInvestigate manufacturing defects, nonconformances, and process inefficiencies to identify root causes.\nDevelop and implement corrective actions to improve quality, repeatability, and manufacturing efficiency.\nHelp establish standardized processes and best practices for welding, fabrication, repair, preparation, and assembly.\nCreate and improve work instructions, process documentation, and manufacturing standards.\nPartner with engineers and technicians to capture lessons learned and incorporate them into future builds.\nSupport continuous improvement projects across structural manufacturing and aircraft assembly.\nRequirements:\nPursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or a related technical field (undergraduate student in your third or fourth year of study, or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program).\nHands-on experience building, fabricating, assembling, or testing hardware through internships, coursework, clubs, competition teams, or personal projects.\nComfortable working directly on the factory floor and learning manufacturing processes hands-on.\nStrong interest in manufacturing, welding, materials, structures, or process improvement.\nAbility to approach problems using engineering first principles and root-cause analysis.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to clearly document technical processes.\nDemonstrated ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams.\nEnthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus’s mission\nGPA of 3.0 or above","description_format":"text","description_chars":2295,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"master","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Design & Creative","Web Design","UI/UX Design"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-22T16:17:31Z"}],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":163,"reasons":["conf:0","velocity","win:early","comp:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-09-23T05:45:00Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":66000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/hermeus-build-reliability-engineering-intern-springsummer-2027","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/hermeus-build-reliability-engineering-intern-springsummer-2027.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-09-24T01:22:41Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers"}}
