You'll work with C++ and web technologies (TypeScript/JavaScript) to build control systems for both remotely piloted (HOTAS) and autonomous flight modes. This role includes designing and implementing intuitive user interfaces, ranging from hands-on control to point-and-click autonomy management.\nSpring: Around 16 weeks (January - April)\nSummer: Around 12 weeks (May - August)\nResponsibilities:\nSoftware development on the human-machine interaction (HMI) program used by flight crew to control the aircraft and run simulations\nSoftware development on the communications software (RF, Satcom, networking) running on the ground and the vehicle \nCollaborate with flight crew to develop and assess usability of the cockpit software and hardware \nCollaborate with engineers to display and control hardware systems \nParticipate in all stages of the software development lifecycle including planning, design, implementation, review, testing, documentation, and user evaluation \nRequirements:\nMust be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university (Undergraduate student (at least a rising senior) or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program)\nPursuing Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related degrees \nC/C++ Experience \nWeb Applications Experience (JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, Electron, etc.) \nComputer Networking knowledge\nAviation/simulation experience \nStrong understanding of engineering first principles\nDemonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams\nEnthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus' mission\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\nGPA of 3.0 or above\nPreferred Skills and Experience:\nDemonstrated knowledge or interest in aerospace industry (aviation or rocketry clubs, pilot license, DCS Ace, etc.) \nExperience working on 2D or 3D games or simulations (especially Unreal, Unity, Cesium)\nNetworking protocol knowledge (TCP/UDP), IP
