You can expect to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, driven by first principles engineering, solving difficult problems.\nJob Overview\nHeron is hiring its first Sales Engineer. You'll work directly with the Sales team to turn customer needs into winning solutions built on the Heron Link, our MVAC-interface power electronics platform, which is typically paired with an energy storage solution. You'll help shape product concepts, design solutions for specific customer sites, and put together proposals. As the first hire in Sales Engineering, you'll help build the function and have plenty of room to grow with it.\nHow You Will Contribute\nPartner with Sales to qualify opportunities and define product concepts around customer needs\n\nAct as the technical lead with customers on calls, site visits and design reviews\n\nDevelop site-specific designs covering system sizing, storage configuration, single-lines and layouts\n\nPull together technical proposals, pricing inputs and responses to RFPs and RFIs\n\nBring customer feedback to engineering and product so offerings keep improving\n\nBuild the tools, templates and processes the Sales Engineering team will scale on\n\nWhat You Will Bring\nWe have a short list of must-have requirements. We prioritize a strong grip on first principles, hands-on skills, and a sense of initiative. Domain-specific knowledge and experience will help determine the career level for each hire.\nMust-Have Requirements\nDegree in engineering or a technical field; EE, power systems or power electronics preferred, ME or CS considered\n\n1-3 years of hands-on work with energy products (EVs, ESS, power electronics or utility) in design, test, support, sales engineering or manufacturing\n\nWorking knowledge of AC power systems, including voltage levels, transformers and grid interconnection basics\n\nAbility to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to both customers and engineers\n\nStrong modeling and analysis skills, coding language and/or Excel\n\nComfort owning ambiguous problems in a fast-moving startup\n\nNice-to-Haves\nExperience with MV equipment, BESS, or utility-scale solar or storage projects\n\nPrior customer-facing technical role such as sales engineering, applications engineering or field support\n\nFamiliarity with interconnection processes, utility requirements, or standards like IEEE 1547 and IEEE 2800\n\nExperience building proposals, system designs or single-line diagrams\n\nExperience at a utility or with distribution system modeling\n\nIf you are passionate about technology and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.
