You can expect to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, driven by first principles engineering, solving difficult problems.\nJob Overview\nAs the Industrial Enclosures Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-volume shipping-container-sized enclosures for power converters as part of a small, multidisciplinary engineering team. You will design a wide range of parts and assemblies using a first principles design approach. Your role will involve performing a variety of tasks, including CAD, analysis, prototyping, testing, and hands-on work. You will collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, test, and manufacturing engineers, as well as external suppliers. You will own your designs from concept through high-volume production.\nHow You Will Contribute\nDesign mass-manufacturable parts and assemblies for large industrial enclosures, structural plastics, electrical insulators, seals, welded joints, riveted joints, bolted joints, and adhesive joints\n\nOwn parts and assemblies from initial concept to high volume production\n\nDesign with a first principles approach, optimizing parts through analysis (e.g. structural, tolerance)\n\nCreate 3D designs and 2D drawings using CATIA V6/3DX\n\nPerform hands-on work such as prototyping and testing\n\nCollaborate with different engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and reliability teams, as well as external partners and suppliers\n\nWhat You Will Bring\nWe have a short list of must-have requirements. We prioritize a strong grip on first principles, hands-on skills, and a sense of initiative. Domain-specific knowledge and experience will help determine the career level for each hire.\nMust-Have Requirements\nBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or similar\n\n5+ years of full-time industry experience designing outdoor-rated industrial enclosures for electromechanical parts or assemblies\n\n5+ years of full-time industry experience working with 3D CAD (bonus if there is experience with CATIA V6/3DX)\n\nStrong engineering fundamentals including a basic understanding of electronics\n\nExperience with high volume manufacturing and processes such as sheet metal bending, stamping, injection molding, diecasting, extruding, fastening, riveting, welding, and dispensing\n\nExperience with ingress ratings and seals\n\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills\n\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\n\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail\n\nNice-to-Haves\nExperience with paintings and coatings\n\nExperience with composites\n\nExperience with PCBAs, connectors, fuses, and other electronic components\n\nExperience with FEA, CFD, multi-physics modeling, or associated software (Ansys, MATLAB, Python, Simulink, StarCCM, etc.)\n\nExperience with GD&T and tolerance analysis\n\nExperience with reliability and validation testing, as well as DFMEAs\n\nExperience with product lifecycle management (PLM) and controlled release processes\n\nExperience with medium voltage (34.5kV) or grid-related products, such as converters, switchgear, circuit breakers, insulation, and shielding\n\nIf you are passionate about technology and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.
