Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. May provide team leadership and mentoring to others.\nResponsibilities\nLead the design and development of complex, large-scale platforms: solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration of scalable, robust cloud subsystems.\nReview designs, test plans, and code for alignment with engineering standards and best practices, and give clear, actionable feedback to improve quality and reduce risk.\nAnalyze complex application, infrastructure, and data-processing problems and deliver sound, maintainable solutions.\nApply AI-assisted workflows across the software development lifecycle (design, coding, testing, review, release, and support), and continuously improve them.\nRepresent the engineering team in technical forums, and mentor and coach less-experienced engineers.\nEvaluate and introduce new technologies and approaches that raise the team's engineering effectiveness.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.\n8+ years of professional software engineering experience.\nStrong programming skills in Python, Java, and Go. Experience with other languages, such as Rust, is a plus.\nStrong grounding in microservices architecture and in building containerized services on Kubernetes.\nExperience building, deploying, and operating scalable, stateless REST APIs and web services on Kubernetes and/or public cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP).\nSolid understanding of the Kubernetes ecosystem, including autoscaling, and of infrastructure and application observability.\nExperience contributing at every stage of the software development lifecycle.\nExperience designing and integrating polyglot systems across multiple platforms.\nStrong testing discipline: test planning, automation, debugging, and tooling.\nDeep proficiency with Git and the ability to establish and drive effective code-review practices.\nProven record of mentoring engineers and helping plan and deliver complex, cross-team projects.\nExcellent written and verbal communication, including presenting architecture and design proposals to senior leaders.\nAI-First Engineering (Required)\nHands-on expertise with AI-assisted software development lifecycle (AI-SDLC) practices and workflows.\nWorking knowledge of at least one AI coding assistant or agent environment.\nExperience with agents and sub-agents, and with reusable skills or instructions that guide them.\nInitiative in adopting emerging AI capabilities in daily engineering work and product support, including monitoring and analyzing those workflows to improve them over time.\nPreferred Qualifications\nDeep knowledge of observability principles (metrics, logs, traces) and experience building products in that space.\nExperience with distributed data pipelines, streaming, or time-series systems.\nExperience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD automation.\nAccessibility\nHPE is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible workplace and encourages applications from all qualified individuals, including those with disabilities.
