This role focuses on designing and developing production-quality software that drives validation, analysis, and system understanding for enterprise storage systems, at scale, under stress, and in real-world environments. The ideal candidate works across the stack, partners closely with firmware, hardware, and systems teams, and plays a key role in shaping both technical direction and engineering best practices.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDesign and build robust software, tools, and frameworks that enable validation and analysis of complex storage systems\nDevelop solutions that exercise systems in realistic scenarios to uncover edge cases, performance limits, and reliability opportunities\nDebug and resolve challenging issues that span multiple layers, including application, OS, driver, and hardware interactions\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system design, observability, and overall product quality\nLead technical efforts within projects, such as driving design discussions, influencing decisions, and ensuring high-quality execution\nContribute to the evolution of internal tooling, frameworks, and development practices, especially ones accelerating through AI integration\nMentor and guide other engineers through hands-on support, code reviews, and technical coaching\nRequirements:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master's or higher preferred)\n6+ years of experience designing and developing software for complex systems\nStrong programming skills in languages such as C or C++\nStrong scripting skills in languages such as Python\nA solid foundation in operating systems concepts, concurrency, and system interactions\nProven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex, cross-layer issues\nExperience delivering well-designed, maintainable software\nExperience with storage systems, distributed systems, or low-level system behavior (drivers, OS internals, kernel interactions) is a plus\nKnowledge and Skills:\nStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams\nAbility to take ownership of complex problem areas and drive them to resolution\nDemonstrated ability to influence design and architecture beyond immediate deliverables\nFamiliarity with storage or networking protocols such as SCSI, iSCSI, NVMe, or Fibre Channel\nExperience with performance analysis, system characterization, or large-scale infrastructure\nExperience building tools or platforms used by other engineers\nFamiliarity with Artificial Intelligence tool chains\nAccessibility\nHPE is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible workplace and encourages applications from all qualified individuals, including those with disabilities.
