Open up opportunities with HPE.\nJob Description:\nJob Family Definition:\nPerforms and leads the analysis, development, execution, and evaluation of validation solutions for High Performance Computing (HPC) network interconnect ASICs, with a primary focus on pre-silicon diagnostics and validation. Develops software-driven validation environments utilizing full-chip emulation and prototype platforms to verify functionality, performance, and interoperability of Network Interface Card (NIC) and Switch ASICs. Analyzes designs, develops validation methodologies, investigates complex failures, and collaborates across engineering disciplines to enable successful ASIC development and product delivery.\nManagement Level Definition:\nContributions regularly and sustainably impacts technical components of products, solutions, and services. Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex technical problems with minimal supervision. Independently plans and executes validation activities, drives issue resolution across functional teams, and provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers. Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques to achieve objectives while contributing to project success and overall team effectiveness.\nResponsibilities:\nDevelops, executes, and maintains validation tests and frameworks for Network Interface Card (NIC) and Switch ASICs used in HPC interconnect solutions utilizing the HPE Slingshot protocol.\nPerforms full-chip validation using emulation, prototype silicon platforms to verify functional correctness, performance, reliability, and interoperability.\nDevelops software-based validation solutions, automation infrastructure, and diagnostic tools using Python, Linux, and related technologies.\nIndependently investigates and debugs complex hardware, software, and system-level failures, working with design, architecture, firmware, and software teams to determine root cause and drive resolution.\nAnalyzes validation results, identifies coverage gaps and product risks, and recommends improvements to validation methodologies and test strategies.\nReviews hardware and software designs to ensure testability, diagnosability, and alignment with validation requirements.\nCollaborates with cross-functional engineering teams to define validation plans, execute project milestones, and ensure product readiness.\nContributes to technical reviews and provides feedback to improve product quality, validation effectiveness, and engineering processes.\nProvides technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers and serves as a resource for validation methodologies, tools, and debug techniques.\nDrives improvements in validation infrastructure, automation, and development workflows to increase productivity and test coverage.\nCommunicates validation status, technical findings, risks, and recommendations to project stakeholders and management.\nLeads technical investigations and validation efforts for complex features or subsystems while contributing to larger project objectives.\nEducation and Experience Required:\nBachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.\n6-10 years of experience in VLSI design, verification, validation, or implementation, including experience leading teams or complex projects.\nExperience developing and executing complex validation or diagnostic test environments.\nKnowledge and Skills:\nAdvanced experience with ASIC validation, diagnostics, or verification methodologies.\nStrong understanding of digital design, computer architecture, and VLSI principles.\nExperience developing validation software using Python and Linux-based environments.\nExperience with debugging complex hardware and software interactions in large-scale system environments.\nKnowledge of Verilog and familiarity with RTL design concepts and debug workflows.\nExperience with EDA, emulation, FPGA, or related pre-silicon development tools.\nUnderstanding of industry standard networking protocols; experience with HPC interconnects is a plus.\nFamiliarity with NIC and Switch ASIC architectures is a plus.\nDemonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical problems and drive issues to closure.\nStrong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.\nEffective written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines.\nAbility to mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.\nAccessibility\nHPE is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible workplace and encourages applications from all qualified individuals, including those with disabilities.
