Distributor Operations Internship - Summer 2027

SUMMARY

The Distributor Operations Intern will support the team responsible for North American and International distributor operations, gaining hands-on exposure to order flow, operational documentation, distributor compliance, and cross-functional supply chain communication. This internship offers real project involvement in supplier handbook maintenance, EDI performance tracking, inventory coordination, shipment accuracy, and distributor scorecard reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, curious, and eager to learn how a distributor operations function supports a growing supply chain. This internship reports to the Operations Systems & Process Improvement Manager.

LOCATION

Onsite at HexArmor Corporate Headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan (640 Leffingwell Ave. NE Grand Rapids, MI)

SCHEDULE

This is a 14-week, full-time internship beginning May 17, 2027. Interns will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during our standard business hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Distributor Support & Communication

• Assist in coordinating recurring touchpoints with distributor supply chain and operations teams.
• Help communicate updates on backorders, product availability, and alternative product solutions to internal stakeholders.
• Support tracking of open orders, shipment status, labeling issues, and shipment resolution updates.
• Help keep distributor agreements and documentation organized and current.

Inventory & Order Flow Support

• Help monitor distributor inventory levels and flag potential stockout or overstock risks.
• Assist in analyzing order patterns to identify unusual trends or emerging constraints.
• Support coordination with Supply Chain and Category Management on capacity and forecast questions.

Supplier Handbooks & Shipping Requirements

• Assist in reviewing and updating Supplier Handbooks to keep shipping requirements accurate and consistent.
• Help communicate shipping requirement updates to the Warehouse team.
• Support efforts to standardize expectations across distributors.

EDI & Continuous Improvement Exposure

• Help monitor EDI order flow performance and support issue tracking and resolution.
• Partner with internal teams (EDI, SAP, etc.) to observe and assist with process improvement efforts.
• Learn how EDI compliance requirements help prevent transaction errors and revenue leakage.

Compliance & Reporting Support

• Assist in tracking distributor compliance with shipping terms and operational requirements.
• Support monitoring of pricing structure adherence alongside Finance.
• Help maintain and update distributor scorecards, tracking KPIs and operational performance data.
• Contribute ideas for process improvements that increase efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field.
• No prior professional experience required; coursework, internship, or part-time experience in a related area is a plus.
• Interest in ERP and EDI systems (SAP exposure a plus, not required).
• Strong analytical skills with an interest in identifying trends and operational risks.
• Strong communication skills and eagerness to collaborate across internal and external teams.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational ability, and comfort managing multiple priorities.
