Become a part of the “strength within.”\nHexcel is currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer for our Leicester, UK location.\nThe selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:\nOwn and manage the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) program ensuring all pilot plant equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational. \nDevelop, implement, and continuously improve maintenance schedules to maximize equipment availability, performance, and reliability. \nProvide hands-on technical support for equipment breakdowns, diagnosing faults and coordinating timely repairs to minimize downtime. \nEnsure all maintenance activities comply with engineering best practices, company safety standards, operating procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements. \nCollaborate with the R&D Technical Manager to effectively plan and schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to pilot plant operations. \nMaintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports to support compliance, traceability, and continuous improvement initiatives. \nManage external service providers and contractors, acting as the primary site contact and ensuring work is completed safely and to agreed service levels. \nControl spare parts and maintenance inventory, including stock management, ordering, storage, and mitigation of supply risks. \nLead root cause investigations following equipment failures and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency. \nPromote and uphold a strong safety culture by ensuring safe isolation procedures, contractor compliance, and adherence to safe working practices always.\nQualifications:\nProven experience in a maintenance engineering role, with mechanical, electrical, or multi-skilled expertise. \nDemonstrated experience managing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) systems and maintenance schedules. \nStrong knowledge of health and safety requirements, regulations, and best practices within an engineering environment. \nExcellent fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve equipment issues efficiently. \nExperience coordinating and managing contractors, service providers, and external suppliers. \nStrong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage workloads in a fast-paced environment. \nEffective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across teams. \nProactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and take ownership of maintenance activities. \nHigh attention to detail, with a strong focus on compliance, documentation, and adherence to procedures. \nHNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline, with familiarity of UK regulations such as PUWER, LOLER, and HSE standards; engineering apprenticeship desirable.\nCandidates must be eligible to work in the country where the position is based.
