This role conducts exposure monitoring, maintains sampling and direct-reading equipment, collects and documents data, and supports regulatory compliance initiatives to help ensure a safe and healthy workplace for employees and contractors.\nKey Responsibilities\nConduct personal and area air monitoring and sampling for process operators, maintenance personnel, laboratory employees, and contractors for chemical vapors, dusts, mists, and other airborne contaminants. (25%)\nPerform noise dosimetry, sound level measurements, heat stress monitoring, ventilation assessments, and ergonomic evaluations in manufacturing, warehouse, terminal, laboratory, and maintenance work areas.(15%)\nUtilize, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial hygiene sampling equipment and direct-reading instruments, including PID monitors, multi-gas meters, particulate monitors, sound level meters, and noise dosimeters.(15%)\nSpend significant field time identifying occupational health hazards, verifying exposure controls, and supporting practical recommendations with operations, maintenance, engineering, and EHS teams.(15%)\nSupport industrial hygiene activities during maintenance outages, catalyst changeouts, vessel entry activities, contractor-intensive projects, and other non-routine work.(10%)\nMaintain exposure monitoring databases and assist in preparation of employee exposure notifications, industrial hygiene records, monitoring reports, and regulatory documentation.(10%)\nSupport occupational health programs including respiratory protection, hearing conservation, heat stress prevention, hazard communication, medical surveillance, training, and incident investigations related to actual or potential occupational exposures.(10%)\nAttributes\nActive, engaged member of the EHS team who interacts effectively with associates remotely and in the field.\n\n40-60% Domestic Travel (United States and Canada).\n\n10-15% International Travel.\n\nEducation & Experience\nEducation: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field.\nYears of Experience:\n2-5 years of experience in industrial hygiene, occupational health, or EHS in a manufacturing environment preferred. \nIndustrial chemical industry or oil and gas refinery experience is preferred, and a combination of formal health and safety training will be considered. \nExperience using industrial hygiene sampling equipment and direct-reading instrumentation preferred. \nDemonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations and exposure limits, including OSHA PELs and ACGIH TLVs. \nWillingness to obtain or actively pursue CIH designation. \nExperience, skills and knowledge:\nAbility to work in a fast-paced production environment and be self-directed at times. \nAbility to work around process equipment, noise, heat, confined spaces, and chemical handling activities. \nAbility to wear required PPE, including respirators. \nWorking knowledge of respiratory protection, hearing conservation, heat stress prevention, hazard communication, and medical surveillance programs. \nAbility to communicate monitoring results, field observations, and practical control recommendations to site personnel and EHS leadership. \nEffective written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of exposure records, employee notifications, monitoring reports, and supporting documentation.\nPhysical Demands & Work Environment\nRegularly walk manufacturing facilities, laboratories, warehouses, terminals, and outdoor process areas while conducting inspections, exposure assessments, and occupational health evaluations. \nFrequently climb stairs, ladders, and elevated platforms to access operating equipment and work areas. \nPerform field activities requiring standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and occasional work in confined or restricted-access spaces. \nCarry, set up, and transport industrial hygiene monitoring equipment and supplies weighing up to approximately 25 pounds. \nWork in environments that may include exposure to noise, heat, cold, humidity, chemical handling operations, and outdoor weather conditions while utilizing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection.\nTravel routinely to manufacturing and research facilities throughout North America and internationally to support industrial hygiene and occupational health activities.\nOther\n\nWe are an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer.
