These projects typically consist of investigating and remediating sites using heavy equipment and remedial technologies to address soil, sediment, and groundwater contamination. This position requires approximately 70% travel to project sites across the United States.\n\nResponsibilities/Duties\nWHAT YOU'LL BE DOING\nThe Construction QC Specialist III responsibilities include:\nServing as the on-site lead for project QC.\nInterfacing with project managers, technical staff, clients, subcontractors, and other field personnel.\nReviewing specifications, drawings, project deliverables, and ongoing construction activities to assure compliance with appropriate plans.\nConfirming all materials and equipment have been tested and approved for use per applicable specifications.\nPerforming daily QC checks, tests, and compliance activities. \nIdentifying, communicating, and documenting QC deficiencies, as well as ensuring they are corrected in a timely manner.\nOrganizing and maintaining project records to ensure all required QC activities are properly documented.\nMinimum Requirements\nWHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL\nThe ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:\n The ability to travel at least 70% of the time to support projects ranging in duration from approximately 1 month to 1 year.\nMinimum of 3 years of experience as a Construction Quality Control Manager for a USACE project.\nMinimum of 5 years of experience in construction management working in close proximity to heavy equipment and excavation activities at large construction or remediation sites.\nExceptional communication skills (written and oral). \nAbility to prepare and maintain project documentation, including daily QC reports, material/equipment inspections, submittal registers, and QC deficiency reports. \nAbility to generate meeting agendas and lead internal and client-facing meetings. \nExperience inspecting, testing, and documenting large scale soil excavation, backfill, and restoration activities. \nAbility to work successfully within a team environment.\nProficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and other MS Office applications.\nAbility to lift up to 30 lbs.\nDesired Qualifications\nWHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT - Preferred, not required\nCurrent certifications including: 40-hour HAZWOPER, 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher, OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety, USACE CQM-C, and first aid/CPR/AED.\nExperience with the USACE Resident Management System (RMS) or QCS.\nBachelor of Science degree from a 4-year college or university in engineering or a related technical field.\nExperience working on project sites contaminated with chlorinated solvents, heavy metals, and PFAS.\nExperience generating technical deliverables for project work (planning documents, progress reports, and completion reports).\nPhysical & Environmental Requirements\nPHYSICAL & COGNITIVE REQUIRMENTS\nAbility to lift/move/relocate items up to 50 lbs\nProlonged sitting up to 70% of the time; Prolonged standing up to 70% of the time\nWalking long distances; Walking over uneven or mountainous terrain\nRepetitive hand motions (typing/tool use/etc.)\nAbility to see details at close range; Ability to see details at a distance; Ability to interpret and analyze visual data (maps/graphs/warning indicators/etc.)\nDriving a company or personal vehicle\nClimbing ladders or stairs\nComplex problem solving and decision making\nReading and interpreting technical documents or regulations\nWriting reports/proposals/or technical documentation\nLeading a team or coordinating multiple priorities\nCommunicating effectively with clients/team members/and stakeholders\nManaging competing deadlines and shifting priorities\nWORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS\nMust be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (heat/cold/rain/snow/etc.)\nMust be able to travel up to 70% yearly\nMay work in environments with loud noises/dust/or hazardous materials\nMust wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)\nRemote work environment\nPotential for longer days up to 12 hours in duration\n\nThis description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee. HGL remediation projects typically occur 5 to 6 days per week. Projects are long duration and HGL attempts to maintain rotations for work life balance approximately every 4 weeks for a duration of 1 week off. This rotation is a target and not guaranteed.\nOffice Type: Project site, field work.
