Working closely with Concept Designers (inhouse or agency), Account Managers, Production teams, and external suppliers, the Design Engineer ensures that all outputs are structurally sound, commercially viable, and executable at scale.\nIn addition to technical delivery, the role provides guidance, expertise, and mentorship within the engineering team, helping to elevate standards, improve processes, and drive innovation.\nTo lead the engineering development of permanent POS solutions, ensuring all designs are innovative, manufacturable, and delivered to the highest standards of quality, performance, and efficiency.\nWork as part of a global team that brings together design, engineering, and innovation to deliver best-in-class retail experiences. In this role, your work goes beyond drawings, your ideas will be built, installed, and experienced by customers in stores worldwide.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nEngineering & Technical Delivery\nLead the engineering development of temporary / permanent solutions from concept through to production.\nTranslate creative concepts into engineered solutions using wood, metal, plastics, incorporating lighting, electrical, and digital solutions.\nProduce high-quality 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and fabrication-ready documentation.\nOwn the creation and accuracy of BOMs, tech packs, and engineering specifications.\nDesign Collaboration\nPartner closely with Concept Designers and / or external agencies to ensure ideas are feasible, structurally robust, and production ready.\nProvide proactive technical input during concept development, identifying opportunities and constraints early.\nMaintain alignment between creative ambition and engineering execution.\nMaterials & Manufacturing Expertise\nSpecify appropriate materials, finishes, and construction techniques to meet performance, brand, and cost requirements.\nApply deep knowledge of manufacturing processes across multiple materials and regions.\nEnsure all solutions are optimised for DFM (Design for Manufacture) and cost-effective production.\nPromote sustainable design thinking and responsible material usage across projects.\nSupplier & Production Interface\nWork directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure clarity of design intent and feasibility.\nReview prototypes, samples, and production builds, resolving technical challenges as they arise.\nSupport production teams in troubleshooting and refining designs through to final delivery.\nStakeholder Engagement\nProvide technical expertise in client meetings, presentations, and internal reviews.\nClearly communicate technical solutions and rationale to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nCollaborate cross-functionally with Account Management, Production, and Supply Chain teams.\nCompliance, Quality & Lifecycle Thinking.\nEnsure all designs meet health & safety standards, structural requirements, and brand guidelines.\nConsider logistics, installation, durability, and lifecycle performance as integral to every solution.\nDrive consistency and quality across all engineering outputs.\n\nKnowledge, Skills + Experience\nAdvanced proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).\nStrong knowledge of materials, fixings, finishes, and structural design principles.\nDeep understanding of manufacturing processes across wood, metal, plastics, and acrylics.\nExpertise in DFM, cost engineering, and production optimisation.\nAbility to produce detailed technical drawings, BOMs, and fabrication-ready documentation.\nStrong problem-solving skills with a practical, solutions-driven mindset.\nExcellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.\nHigh attention to detail and commitment to engineering accuracy.\nStrong English language skills enabling work with global communities.\nDegree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.\nTypically, 5-8+ years' experience in retail displays, POS, furniture, shopfitting, product development, or a related engineering field.\nProven experience developing products from concept through manufacture and implementation.\nExperience working directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners.\nDemonstrable portfolio showcasing engineering solutions and technical development work.\nKnowledge of sustainable design practices and circular design principles.\nExperience working across global supply chains and multiple production regions.\nTechnical expert and solutions driven.\nHighly detail-oriented with strong ownership of outputs.\nCollaborative, approachable, and confident working across teams.\nCommercially aware, balancing design intent with cost and production realities.\nProactive and hands-on, with a strong sense of accountability.\nPassionate about seeing designs realised in-store and performing
