Your team will own the full development lifecycle, from shaping solutions and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production monitoring.\nResponsibilities\nLead and develop the team - Coach and grow engineers through regular feedback, clear expectations, and meaningful ownership. Support hiring and onboarding, address performance gaps early, and build a collaborative team environment.\nShape product solutions - Partner closely with Product and Design to understand customer needs, challenge assumptions, and shape solutions. Make scope and technical trade-offs explicit to support sound prioritization.\nOwn delivery from end to end - Turn priorities into clear execution plans and achievable milestones. Manage dependencies, communicate progress and risks proactively, and adapt plans as new information emerges.\nProvide technical leadership - Guide architecture, design, and code quality. Stay close to implementation and contribute hands-on where it creates the most value, while empowering engineers to lead.\nOwn production quality - Build reliability, observability, security, and performance into the development lifecycle. Ensure clear ownership of monitoring, incidents, and follow-up improvements that address root causes.\nCollaborate across teams - Work with other Talent Unit teams, Architects, and platform partners to align on shared capabilities, resolve dependencies, and deliver coherent solutions.\nContinuously improve how the team works - Simplify processes and solutions, encourage experimentation, and use AI-assisted development thoughtfully to improve effectiveness while maintaining engineering accountability.\nLead through change - Help the team understand priorities and their purpose, create clarity during uncertainty, and maintain trust, focus, and sustainable ways of working.\nRequirements\n Requirements7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong backend background.\nExperience managing an engineering team, or substantial experience leading engineers, mentoring others, and driving delivery, with demonstrated readiness for people management.\nStrong knowledge of software design, scalable web architecture, and distributed systems.\nExperience developing and operating SaaS products on AWS or an equivalent cloud platform.\nAbility to guide technical decisions across backend and frontend, balancing simplicity, quality, delivery speed, and long-term maintainability.\nStrong product and customer orientation, with experience translating complex requirements into practical technical solutions.\nStrong people leadership skills, including coaching, constructive feedback, delegation, and building team ownership.\nAn independent, resourceful, and proactive approach, with the ability to create clarity, communicate trade-offs, and surface risks early.\nExcellent collaboration and communication skills in Hebrew and English.\nThe following is a big plusExperience with JVM languages, particularly Kotlin, Java or Scala.\nExperience leading a cross-functional product engineering team.\nExperience evolving an existing product and architecture while continuing to deliver customer value.\nExperience with complex workflows, permission models, or sensitive customer data.\nPractical experience using AI-assisted development tools and helping others use them effectively.\nContributions to engineering guilds, technical forums, or cross-team initiatives.\nBenefits\nHiBob is a village filled with amazing people and we’re especially proud of that.
