As an intern you will gain hands-on experience with our custom hardware products. You can expect to gain meaningful technical experience while helping us accelerate our product development, production, and deployment of our state-of-the-art sensor network.\nLocation: This position is onsite in the Syracuse, NY office.\nAs a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will…\nEvaluate next generation hardware, analyze results and make recommendations to the design team. \nCollaborate across engineering disciplines to design and develop advanced sensor products.\nWork in a motivated, cross-disciplinary team passionate about solving challenging problems and delivering results. \nReceive mentorship, guidance, and constructive feedback from experienced engineers.\nResponsibilities:\nUse 3D solid modeling to design mechanical solutions for tightly controlled enclosures and fixtures \nAssist with or perform structural, thermal, and other failure analyses to meet environmental and structural requirements \nOptimize designs for feasibility, manufacturability, cost, thermal performance, strength-weight efficiency, and ease of assembly \nCreate and maintain cable assemblies/harnesses and other peripheral interface designs \nSolve design challenges using a variety of materials and fabrication methods including plastics, composites, metals, 3D-printing, machining, etc.\nDefine, maintain, and communicate requirements to 3rd-party fabrication houses and work closely with them through component and product delivery\nPerform design verification and integration of new components and support field testing\nAuthor assembly instructions and drawings in support of in-house production\nAid with the management of bills of material (BOM) and other production and fabrication artifacts\nReview hardware parts for obsolescence and identify suitable replacements\nAssist with or provide information in support of project planning, execution, and oversight\nRequired Qualifications:\nEnrolled in an accredited degree program majoring in Mechanical Engineering.\nCompleted Sophomore year or greater by Summer 2027.\nA minimum grade point average of 3.4. Recent transcript is required with application (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)\nAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and overcome technical challenges through teamwork and collaboration.\nStrong desire to learn and great communication skills.\nSome experience using 3D CAD modeling tools such as SolidWorks\nHourly Rate Range: The hourly rate range for this position is estimated at $23 to $26 per hour.
