With an executive team of seasoned hospitality leaders and corporate offices worldwide, Highgate is a trusted partner for top ownership groups and major hotel brands. www.highgate.com\nLocation\nMonterey Beach Hotel Monterey, CA\nOverview\nThe Director of Human Resources (temporary) is responsible for staffing qualified personnel; ensuring employment statute compliance; overseeing all aspects of wage, benefit, worker’s compensation unemployment; training program direction, implementation and administration; and employee relations coaching, counseling and discipline.\nResponsibilities\nDirect and supervise Human Resources staff.\nPrepare and maintain Human Resources budget.\nMaintain thorough and current knowledge of all Human Resources/employee regulations and laws, and ensure that the property is in compliance.\nParticipate in EEO, Unemployment, Wage & Hour, Worker’s Compensation, OSHA, ADA, Immigration and Naturalization Service hearings. Implement policies and programs to guarantee compliance.\nCommunicate new policies, information, and directives to all employees.\nInstruct staff in interpretation of HR policies and procedures.\nEnsure staffs compliance with HR policies and procedures.\nCoordinate and monitor recruitment, screening and reference checking of all non-exempt personnel.\nRecruit, interview and recommend all exempt personnel.\nMaintain employee benefits programs.\nSet up, approve, and maintain all wage and salary programs, including performance evaluations.\nRecommend and/or approve all employee transitions, i.e. new hire, transfer, promotion, etc.\nMaintain open door policy.\nMonitor and analyze turnover statistics.\nConduct training classes.\nUpdate and submit required reports in a timely manner.\nParticipate in and monitor safety committee in compliance with Loss Prevention SOP’s.\nEnsure compliance with all HR related Loss Prevention SOP’s.\nEstablish and maintain safety incentive program.\nBecome a certified trainer in all current HR training modules.\nParticipate in and monitor effectiveness of Highgate Hotel Enrichment committee.\nMaintain Heroes of Hospitality (Employee of Month/Year) program.\nPractice positive employee relations, including coaching, counseling & discipline.\nDevelop and maintain “no cost” benefit programs.\nMonitor Service Standards by Position training program.\nParticipate in and monitor orientation programs.\nDevelop managers for future advancement.\nEnsure managers are using coaching, counseling and discipline to address issues/concerns.\nEnsure Associate Opinion Survey is completed by all employees.\nCondense and expedite paperwork, develop internal communications, improve record keeping.\nDevelop and maintain suggestion box program.\nPlan and edit employee newsletter.\nManage all personnel files.\nManage resume and application files.\nDevelop and monitor recruitment resources.\nQualifications\nAt least 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a hotel or a related industry;
