The Assistant Supervisor Residential partners with a team of skilled professionals, youth, and families to provide services that are family-driven, youth-guided, trauma-informed, and culturally competent in various settings in order to help youth reach their full potential.\nThe individual in this position is responsible for the creation of a safe, nurturing, and peaceful environment that provides opportunity for the successful development of life and social skills for clients and families receiving services.\nEssential Job functions\nCreate a safe, nurturing, and peaceful environment that provides opportunity for the successful development of life and social skills for youth receiving services.\nRecognize and address challenging student/youth behavior utilizing training provided.\nProvide guidance and mentorship to unit staff to ensure proper development, implementation, and documentation of treatment goals and objectives.\nSupport organization and communication of youth schedules and activities.\nManage and appropriately prioritize how to respond in emergency situations.\nPerform the duties of a Youth Care Professional.\nAdhere to funder requirements and regulations at all times.\nComply with all Hillside policies, procedures and all applicable governmental laws, regulations and guidelines.\nPartner with the Supervisor to delegate tasks in alignment with staff strengths and interests.\nProvide the following supervisory functions, as needed, in the Supervisor’s absence:Supervise Residential staff, including scheduling and training.\nOrganize and communicate youth schedules and routines.\nFacilitate team meetings and document decision and process changes that occur as a result of meetings.\nEnsure a safe and sanitary physical living environment.\n\nWhile this job description covers many aspects of the role, employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned.\nEducation & Experience\nHigh School Diploma or GED required\nMinimum 2 years of experience in a residential care setting required\nSpecial Requirements\nCPR certification required or obtained within 60 days of hire.\nUnrestricted, valid NYS driver’s license for minimum of 1 year with a clean driving record and minimum insurance coverage that meets agency standards preferred. \nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nIn addition to demonstrating the Hillside Professional Competencies of Communicates Effectively, Personal Excellence, Cultural Competence, Builds and Leverages Relationships and Optimizes Decision Making, the following occupational competencies must be demonstrated:\nDemonstrate the emotional competence and good judgment required to build productive, engaged children, youth, staff and family relationships while implementing required rules, expectations and routines.\nAbility to complete all required documentation in timely fashion according to established policies and regulations. This is an essential function in order to facilitate the efficient and effective flow of information necessary for the program to be effectively managed and outcomes optimized.\nAbility to recognize and address escalating and dysregulated youth behavior and utilizing training provided in behavior management and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) including the use of physical interventions (holds).\nDemonstrate problem-solving and conflict resolution skills with self and others.\nConsistently meet the highest standard for ethical and professional conduct towards all.\nPhysical Demands & Work Environment\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
