The Executive Housekeeper works closely with Front Office, Engineering, People & Development, Finance, Security, and other hotel departments to ensure room readiness, effective maintenance coordination, responsible financial performance, and a positive, safe, and well-organized working environment for the Housekeeping team.
Housekeeping Leadership & Daily Operations
Provide day-to-day leadership and operational direction for all Housekeeping functions, including guestrooms, public areas, housekeeping support areas, and related services.
Lead the Assistant Housekeeping Manager, Housekeeping Supervisors, and Housekeeping team members in the consistent execution of NoMad cleanliness, presentation, service, and productivity standards.
Plan, organize, and monitor daily Housekeeping activities based on occupancy, arrivals, departures, stayovers, VIP activity, special requests, and business needs.
Maintain a highly visible presence throughout guestrooms, corridors, public areas, and back-of-house Housekeeping spaces and conduct regular inspections to ensure established standards are met.
Ensure effective daily communication, shift handovers, assignments, and follow-up within the Housekeeping department.
Establish and maintain departmental procedures, checklists, inspection standards, and quality controls designed to support consistent execution.
Ensure prompt, courteous, and thoughtful service to guests and respond appropriately to Housekeeping-related concerns, requests, or service-recovery needs.
Guestroom & Public Area Quality
Ensure guestrooms and public areas are cleaned, maintained, inspected, and presented in accordance with NoMad luxury standards and applicable health and sanitation requirements.
Maintain a consistent room-inspection program and ensure leaders are accountable for identifying and correcting cleanliness, presentation, maintenance, and room-readiness concerns.
Continuously inspect guestrooms, public spaces, meeting areas, offices, corridors, and other assigned spaces to monitor quality and identify opportunities for improvement.
Evaluate the condition of furniture, fixtures, equipment, décor, linen, and guestroom assets and communicate repair, replacement, or refurbishment needs.
Partner with the Director of Rooms and Engineering on repair and preventive-maintenance programs affecting guestrooms and public areas.
Coordinate closely with Front Office regarding room status, priorities, early arrivals, late departures, out-of-order rooms, VIPs, and special guest requests.
Monitor guest feedback and Housekeeping-related quality results and implement corrective action when recurring issues or trends are identified.
Team Leadership, Staffing & Development
Recruit, select, train, coach, develop, schedule, supervise, recognize, and evaluate Housekeeping leaders and team members in partnership with People & Development.
Provide clear direction and performance expectations to the Housekeeping management team and ensure managers and supervisors effectively administer their areas of responsibility.
Develop Housekeeping leaders and team members through ongoing coaching, cross-training, performance feedback, recognition, and development opportunities.
Partner with People & Development regarding performance management, attendance, employee relations, corrective action, and other team member matters.
Ensure staffing and schedules are aligned with occupancy, business levels, productivity standards, and operational requirements.
Promote a positive, respectful, safe, accountable, and service-focused working environment.
Conduct and participate in departmental meetings, pre-shift meetings, training sessions, and hotel meetings as appropriate.
Labor, Budget & Financial Management
Develop, manage, and monitor the Housekeeping operating budget, labor plan, forecasts, payroll hours, expenses, and productivity in partnership with the Director of Rooms and Finance.
Analyze labor, wages, supplies, operating expenses, occupancy, productivity, and other departmental data against forecasts and budget.
Establish and maintain appropriate productivity standards while protecting NoMad's cleanliness, quality, and guest-experience expectations.
Monitor daily staffing and payroll hours and make appropriate adjustments based on occupancy, room demand, business levels, and operational needs.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, control expenses, and reduce waste without compromising quality or service.
Prepare and maintain recurring departmental reports, forecasts, budgets, plans, and other operational information as required.
Inventory, Linen, Supplies & Lost and Found
Maintain appropriate inventory controls for guestroom supplies, housekeeping supplies, linen, uniforms or other assigned items, and departmental equipment.
Ensure required month-end and periodic inventories are completed accurately and timely.
Establish par levels and ordering practices that provide adequate supplies for efficient operation while controlling cost and unnecessary inventory.
Oversee the purchasing and responsible use of cleaning supplies, linen, guest supplies, and Housekeeping equipment in accordance with approved procedures and budgets.
Maintain effective processes for linen distribution, storage, handling, quality control, and replacement.
Ensure lost-and-found items are properly documented, secured, stored, and handled in accordance with hotel policy.
Monitor equipment condition and coordinate repair or replacement needs with the Director of Rooms, Engineering, Finance, or other appropriate departments.
Thorough knowledge of Housekeeping operations, guestroom cleaning, public-area cleaning, room inspection, sanitation requirements, and appropriate application of cleaning chemicals.
Strong knowledge of Housekeeping staffing, scheduling, labor productivity, inventories, linen controls, supplies, equipment, and departmental financial management.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop Housekeeping managers, supervisors, and team members.
Strong visual attention to detail and the ability to consistently evaluate cleanliness, condition, presentation, and adherence to luxury standards.
Ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret departmental budgets, forecasts, payroll, labor, productivity, inventory, and expense information.
Excellent organizational, time-management, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to effectively coordinate and cooperate with Front Office, Engineering, People & Development, Finance, Security, and other departments.
Ability to work effectively with guests, team members, vendors, and contractors and resolve concerns professionally.
Proficiency with hotel systems and technology used for room status, scheduling, inventory, reporting, communication, and departmental administration.
Knowledge of laundry and linen processes sufficient to oversee quality, inventory, and operational requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent progressively responsible Housekeeping leadership experience may be considered.
Minimum three years of progressively responsible Housekeeping supervisory or management experience required.
Previous experience leading Housekeeping managers, supervisors, and a sizable hourly team strongly preferred.
Luxury, lifestyle, or full-service hotel Housekeeping experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience with guestroom inspections, labor productivity, scheduling, inventories, supplies, sanitation, and departmental financial controls required.
Experience supporting a pre-opening, hotel opening, renovation, or similarly complex operation is a plus.
