As a member of the Accounts team, you will help build and shape new improved experiences with impact across the whole company. A resilient and scalable Accounts system ensures both stability and helps with growth of our member base. This role has a strong focus on user identity and account management - registration, authentication, authorization, and identity provider integrations - so hands-on experience with identity management platforms (e.g., Auth0, Okta) and IAM concepts (SSO, OIDC, SAML, MFA/passwordless auth) is highly valued. You’ll work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to build scalable, performant, and accessible applications.\nThis is a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-impact product in its early stages. You’ll play a key role in defining the technical foundations and ensuring a seamless and delightful experience for users. Our workflow is trunk-based CI/CD, and our security/compliance posture is at the highest standards of healthcare, including HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, and CCPA.\nWhat You’ll Accomplish\nDeliver large projects that introduce new product capabilities, often acting as a maintainer for key code repositories.\n\nDesign, build, and operate identity and account management systems - member registration and sign-in workflows, OTP/MFA verification, social login, account linking, and identity provider (e.g., Auth0) integrations.\n\nBreak down complex problems into manageable tasks, ensuring steady and predictable delivery while identifying and resolving root causes of incidents.\n\nCollaborate with your team to roadmap and execute ambitious technical strategies, balancing short-term and long-term trade-offs.\n\nMentor and support junior engineers, providing thoughtful code reviews and real-time pairing.\n\nIntegrate and leverage AI technologies to automate processes and enhance product features, contributing to Hinge Health’s AI-driven care platform.\n\nProactively improve the maintainability, availability, and performance of the team’s features, and contribute to the team’s overall architecture and developer tooling.\n\nCommunicate technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical partners, and document solutions for future reference.\n\nParticipate in the team’s weekly on-call rotation, helping ensure the reliability and timely support of the systems we build.\n\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field\n\n3+ years of non-internship full time professional software development experience\n\nExperience with at least one software programming language\n\nExperience in the full software development life cycle\n\nExperience delivering large software projects or features in a production environment\n\nProficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Golang, Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.)\n\nGood understanding and practical knowledge in cloud based services (e.g. gRPC, protobufs, temporal, Docker/Kubernetes, cloud services such as AWS, etc.)\n\nExperience building or maintaining user identity, authentication, or account management systems (e.g., registration, sign-in, credential/identity linking, role-based authorization)\n\nHands-on experience with an identity provider platform such as Auth0, Okta, or similar (OIDC, SAML, SSO, passwordless or social authentication, IdP management/authentication APIs)\n\nExperience with data ingestion, integration and security is a plus\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Auth0 specifically - Management/Authentication APIs, Organizations, event streams or tenant/connection configuration - or comparable IdP depth\n\nFamiliarity with identity and access management (IAM) concepts: multi-factor authentication, entity resolution/deduplication for user or member records, and credential lifecycle management\n\nExperience with Temporal (or similar durable workflow engines) for orchestrating user lifecycle operations such as registration, bootstrapping, or invitations\n\nExperience with AI technologies for software design and coding assistance\n\nExperience mentoring or onboarding junior engineers\n\nFamiliarity with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or scalable architectures\n\nExperience with healthcare technology or regulated environments\n\nExperience with Agile development practices\n\nHinge Health Hybrid Model\nWe believe that remote work and in-person work have their own advantages and disadvantages, and we want to be able to leverage the best of both worlds.
