The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of patient data and laboratory results, maintaining seamless integration between laboratory instruments and IT systems, and ensuring compliance with relevant healthcare regulations and quality standards.\nThis role also involves providing technical support and training to end users, managing IT projects, optimising business processes through system integration, and overseeing the IT team.\nResponsibilities:\nLIMS and Systems Admin:\n\nServe as the primary technical specialist for the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and other integrated laboratory and business applications.\n\nConfigure and maintain LIMS master data, including test codes, result parameters, reference ranges, user permissions, and system settings.\n\nProvide first- and second-line technical support for LIMS-related issues, including system errors, data discrepancies, and workflow challenges.\n\nManage user accounts, access permissions, and security roles.\n\nSet up, configure, and maintain workstations, laptops, printers, scanners, routers, and other IT peripherals.\n\nInstall and configure operating systems, software applications, and device drivers.\n\nMaintain and support company hardware and software systems.\n\nSystem Integration and Support:Configure and maintain interfaces between the LIMS and laboratory instruments.\n\nTroubleshoot instrument connectivity, system integration, and data transfer issues to ensure accurate and timely reporting of laboratory results.\n\nCollaborate with instrument vendors and internal IT teams to implement new integrations and interface developments.\n\nDiagnose and resolve hardware, software, application, and network connectivity issues.\n\nProvide technical support in person, telephonically, and through remote access.\n\nRespond to technical support requests and incidents promptly and efficiently.\n\nDocument troubleshooting procedures, resolutions, and recurring technical issues.\n\nIdentify opportunities to improve organisational efficiency through system integration and automation.\n\nData Management:Monitor data integrity within the LIMS and investigate and resolve discrepancies.\n\nAssist in developing and implementing quality control procedures relating to LIMS data.\n\nGenerate and analyse reports for operational, quality assurance, and regulatory purposes.\n\nEnsure the appropriate archiving, retention, and management of laboratory data in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.\n\nMaintain an accurate inventory of IT assets, hardware, software, and licences.\n\nKeep detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, system changes, and technical resolutions.\n\n Training and Documentation:Develop and deliver training to laboratory staff on LIMS functionality, system updates, and best practices.\n\nCreate and maintain technical documentation covering system configurations, workflows, troubleshooting procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).\n\nProvide user orientation and guidance on new software applications and computer equipment.\n\nPromote IT best practices, cybersecurity awareness, data privacy, and efficient system usage.\n\nProject Management:Participate in or lead projects involving LIMS upgrades, new module implementations, system enhancements, and laboratory technology integrations.\n\nCollaborate with laboratory management to identify opportunities for process optimisation and improved operational efficiency.\n\nConduct system testing to verify the functionality, accuracy, and reliability of new implementations and software updates.\n\nSupport the implementation of new business systems and technologies.\n\nEnsure that system changes are appropriately documented and tested before implementation.\n\nCompliance and Security:Ensure that system configurations and IT operations comply with relevant regulatory requirements and organisational quality standards.\n\nImplement and maintain appropriate IT security measures to protect patient confidentiality and data integrity.\n\nSupport audits relating to laboratory information systems and IT processes.\n\nPromote compliance with internal IT policies and data protection requirements.\n\n IT Team Management:Manage and oversee the IT team, ensuring effective service delivery and technical support.\n\nAllocate responsibilities, monitor performance, and provide guidance to team members.\n\nEnsure that IT support activities, maintenance schedules, and projects are completed efficiently.\n\nEncourage collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the IT function.\n\nRequirements:Relevant IT qualification (Diploma or Degree).\n\nValid driver's licence.\n\nAbility to commute to Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal.\n\nMinimum of 3-5 years' experience working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) within a medical laboratory environment.\n\nHands-on experience configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting a major LIMS platform.\n\nExperience with laboratory instrument interfacing, connectivity, and system integration.\n\nPrevious experience in a healthcare environment will be advantageous.\n\nExperience managing or supervising an IT team will be beneficial.\n\n Technical abilities:In-depth knowledge of LIMS functionality, configuration, and architecture.\n\nUnderstanding of database concepts and the ability to work with SQL queries.\n\nStrong hardware and software troubleshooting capabilities.\n\nKnowledge of networking fundamentals relevant to laboratory systems.\n\nExperience with system integration and laboratory instrument interfaces.\n\nFamiliarity with
