The position reports\nto the Engineering Manager.\nThe successful incumbent will form part of the Factory Engineering Team and will be responsible\nfor providing leadership, technical guidance, specialized engineering support.\nmaintain and optimize the mechanical equipment in the Factory for maximum plant availability and\nreliability.\nKEY PERFORMANCE AREAS\nEnsure optimal performance of all mechanical equipment in the Front-End / optimal\nperformance of the engineering and operational aspect of the S&PG section.\nProvide technical and overall leadership to personnel under the area of responsibility.\nDrive Maintenance improvements to optimise efficiency and output as well as availability and\nreliability of equipment in area of responsibility.\nProvide expertise on a day-to-day basis on engineering related issues for Front-End / provide\nexpertise on both engineering and operations related issues for the S&PG section, support\nand advise on solutions.\nAudit Front-End Maintenance team / audit S&PG Maintenance and Operations\nAudit and analyse maintenance systems for Front-End / audit and analyse maintenance and\noperations systems for S&PG with the aim of uncovering inefficiencies and addressing them\naccordingly.\nDevelop Season and Off-Crop Maintenance budgets with Maintenance Manager, Section\nForeman, Operations teams, and Finance Business Partner. Effectively manage allocated\nbudgets.\nResponsible for Mechanical Engineering input into Capital / Abnormal & Maintenance\nProjects, budget preparation and project execution in area of responsibility.\nResponsible for stop day and off-crop planning processes and effective execution thereof in\narea of responsibility.\nDevelop and drive improvement projects to ensure current assets are maximised to their full\npotential within the maintenance budget.\nPromote cross-functional teams and stakeholder engagement with focus on teamwork.\nEngage effectively and collaborate with key suppliers/contractors.\nIdentify and monitor KPIs to track performance and flag any issues in area of responsibility.\nAddress production losses caused by inefficient maintenance or operations systems by\ncritically analysing and optimising the systems performance.\nProvide engineering and operations support for specifications and plant modifications.\nResponsible for the management of mechanical technical standards (Front-End) / mechanical\nand operations technical standards (S&PG), specifications and group risk mitigation policies\nand the governance thereof.\nSet direction, implement, and monitor continuous improvement by driving effective work\npractices, and ensuring that tools and techniques are being applied to deliver high quality\nworkmanship in a safe and sustainable manner.\nProvide engineering support to the Front-End Operations team in terms of equipment settings\nfor the season\nPromote a culture of consistently assessing risks, adhering to safety requirements, and\npromoting SHERQ compliance - drive safety as a way of life in the factory.\nEnsure continuous improvement by implementing functional best practices and conducting\nphysical inspections throughout the area of responsibility.\nResponsible for Statutory Requirements and legal appointments as delegated by the\nEngineering Manager and required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act.\nEnsure effective implementation and sustainability of the Engaged Performance\nManagement systems (EPM).\nModel leadership behaviours, collaborating, partnering, and communicating effectively within\nand between teams.\nDrive adherence to Group technical, risk and best maintenance practices and operations\nstandards and management of technical governance requirements.\nPromote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies, and guidelines, including, without\nlimitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS\nDegree in Mechanical Engineering\n3+ years’ -
