A key requirement of this position is the ability to accept legal appointment as GMR 2.1, with accountability for machinery and plant safety.\nCandidates with experience in corporate environments, hospitality, facilities management or similar engineering-intensive operations are encouraged to apply.\nKey Responsibilities\nEngineering Leadership and Compliance\nProvide technical expertise and leadership across engineering systems and infrastructure.\nEnsure machinery, equipment and plant are safe to operate, properly maintained and compliant with applicable legislation.\nLead the implementation and monitoring of machinery safety programmes.\nReview engineering designs, modifications and installations to ensure compliance with relevant standards.\nOversee statutory inspections, load testing, certifications and associated documentation.\nLiaise with regulatory authorities, inspectors and auditors where required.\nMaintenance and Asset Management\nDevelop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.\nMaintain accurate asset registers and statutory maintenance records.\nMonitor equipment performance, reliability and lifecycle management.\nIdentify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiency.\nManage contractors and service providers to ensure quality, safety and compliance.\nHealth, Safety and Risk Management\nLead hazard identification and risk assessments, including HIRA.\nEnsure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, General Machinery Regulations and applicable SANS standards.\nInvestigate incidents, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.\nMonitor engineering risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are in place.\nGovernance and Stakeholder Management\nConduct compliance audits and engineering inspections.\nMaintain statutory records, permits, certificates and compliance documentation.\nReport on engineering performance, safety and compliance to management.\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to teams.\nCollaborate with operations, facilities, safety and other relevant stakeholders.\nMinimum Requirements\nNational Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.\nMinimum of 5-10 years' relevant engineering experience.\nExperience in plant, machinery, facilities management or a similar technical environment.\nDemonstrated experience in engineering safety, statutory compliance and risk management.\nMust be eligible and competent for legal appointment as GMR 2.1.\nThorough understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and the General Machinery Regulations.\nStrong technical problem-solving,
