# Software Tester

A diversified South African financial services and wealth management group is seeking a Software Tester who will provide independent testing capacity within the IT Development team, ensuring platform changes meet approved specifications before production release - Johannesburg or Cape Town. Responsibilities: Test Design & Execution: Review user stories and specifications for testability; design comprehensive test cases (positive, negative, boundary); and execute functional, integration, regression, cross-browser, and usability testing. Data & API Verification: Write SQL queries for backend data validation and test REST API endpoints using Postman. Defect Management: Log defects with precise reproduction steps, severity, and priority; track through to retesting and closure. Escalate high-risk issues (regulatory, financial calculation, client data exposure) directly to the CTO and Project Manager. Release & Audit Support: Produce test summary and evidence packs, ensure full traceability (requirement to test to defect), and recommend release readiness (withholding sign-off if exit criteria fail). Test Data & UAT: Prepare de-identified or synthetic test data in compliance with PO
