We value engineers with a growth and learning mindset.\nYour Role\nOwn systems end-to-end: Design and build scalable backend systems powering core product workflows using Java, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, and Terraform.\nBuild product-facing features: Develop intuitive front-end experiences using React and TypeScript that make complex government workflows simple and efficient.\nShape architecture and technical direction: Contribute to architectural decisions across services, data models, and infrastructure as we scale.\nShip product end-to-end: Work directly with product, customer success, and customers themselves to design and deliver impactful features.\nImprove performance and reliability: Identify bottlenecks, reduce technical debt, and continuously improve system performance and scalability.\nRaise the engineering bar: Write clean, well-tested code and mentor teammates to maintain a strong engineering culture.\nWhat We’re Looking For\n5+ years of experience building production software, with strong proficiency in backend (e.g., Java, Python, Ruby) technologies\n5+ years of experience working with and optimizing relational databases (e.g., SQL, PostgreSQL).\nComfort working across the stack (backend + frontend), with experience in at least one modern frontend framework, preferably React\nExperience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar)\nStrong command of API design, data modeling, object-oriented programming, and relational database design principles.\nExpertise in version control (e.g., Git), containerization (e.g., Docker), CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions), and modern automated testing frameworks.\nExperience in customer-facing product engineering (B2B or B2C).\nMost importantly, we look for engineers who:\nTake ownership of problems\nEnjoy building real systems used by customers\nCare about writing clean, maintainable code\nMove quickly and iterate with users\nBelieve small teams of great engineers can build outsized impact -
