Commercial focus, continuous improvement and product centric delivery is at the heart of everything we do.\nThe Role:\nThe Lead Analytics Engineer is responsible for advancing retained knowledge across US Data Engineering practices, generating efficiency in bridging the gap between business and technology execution, and driving value by making data available and intelligible for all users. This position serves as the strategic technical lead for business context translation, data innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and enterprise-wide data management initiatives. Building upon the Senior Data & Analytics Specialist foundation, this role elevates responsibilities to include the creation and stewardship of innovation labs/environments, oversight of Learning & Development (L&D) content for US Data in the Learning Hub and Data Marketplace, and the design and implementation of training and cross-skilling programs for building retained knowledge across the team.\nThe Lead Data & Analytics Specialist is a forward-thinking leader who influences business outcomes, fosters a culture of continuous learning, and ensures the effective use and accessibility of data as a strategic asset for Hiscox US products.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing:\nServe as the lead data and analytics technologist for multiple cross-functional teams, guiding access to and analysis of data and information.\nOwn, manage, and measure the effective use of analytics and intelligence data by team members and business stakeholders (including managing use cases across data and business function domains)\nEstablish and manage innovation labs and environments to pilot new data products, tools, and methodologies, fostering a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.\nConduct research and horizon scanning to identify emerging data and analytics trends, evaluating applicability to support business objectives.\nGenerate, curate, and manage US Data L&D content in the Learning Hub, ensuring timely, relevant, and accessible resources for data professionals and business users.\nDesign and implement comprehensive training plans for team members and business users, including cross-skilling and up-skilling programs for data teams to promote data literacy and advanced analytics capabilities.\nChampion continuous professional development, leading/mentoring senior and junior data specialists and engineering team members and facilitating coaching conversations at all organizational levels.\nCollaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and derive technical requirements to support development, documentation, and implementation of the data solution design.\nWork with the leadership team, stakeholders, and product owners/managers to plan for new projects (solution design, infrastructure planning, estimation)\nCreate, manage and maintain data models and context layers, including self-service and AI capabilities, that align with business objectives and data as a product vision, making definitions and usability clear and accessible by users and AI capabilities.\nProvide data expertise and guidance to US Data engineering teams and business users/data consumers.\nPerform effective problem solving with business experts, management, and team members to solve complex business and design/technical issues from strategy to execution.\nPerform data analysis and validation to ensure data accuracy and integrity.\nCollaborate with peers to ensure proper adoption and documentation of governance and best practices across data development.\nEstablish, maintain, and promote consistent development methodology.\nIdentify areas to simplify, reuse code and fix technical debts (e.g. performance tuning)\nContribute to design sessions and conduct code and/or release reviews.\nCodify knowledge and expand the knowledge repository within the team.\nCoach, mentor and reinforce the team in the operating model and data domain knowledge.\nConduct quality control and record-keeping procedures to ensure the highest levels of data integrity and keep team members accountable to meet expectations.\nManage day-to-day technical challenges during execution and communicate any risks or issues to management.\nIdeal Experience:\nBachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field\n8+ years of progressive experience in data management, analytics, solution architecture, cloud platforms, data warehousing/lakehouse concepts, data modeling, and/or data engineering, with a track record of delivering high-quality, complex data solutions\nDemonstrated leadership in strategic data initiatives, innovation environments, and cross-functional project management\nExperience with data as a product and business intelligence concepts, such as data governance, data quality, data lineage, data catalog, data visualization, and data storytelling\nExpertise in self-service analytics and visualization capabilities utilizing tools such as Power BI\nStrong SQL, data modeling/warehousing, and AI (Claude, GEAP, Copilot, etc.) applied experience\nAdvanced knowledge of data integration tools (DBT, SSIS) and frameworks (ETL, ELT, API, streaming), data structures (relational, non-relational, JSON, XML), and scripting languages (Python, R, PowerShell, JavaScript)\nStrong Insurance domain skills with experience in problem solving and demonstrated ability to implement and deliver industry specific solutions.\nExperience in designing and delivering training programs, L&D content, and cross-skilling initiatives for diverse audiences.\nEffective communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences; adept at presenting complex concepts clearly.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; able to operate effectively in dynamic and ambiguous environments.\nProfessional presence and ability to drive strategic outcomes and value.\nExperience
