For offshore wind power or long-distance underwater transmissions, direct current is the only realistic energy transmission alternative.\nIn this role as a Hardware Design Engineer at HVDC, you will be designing our control cabinet layout, consisting of hundreds of circuit boards for measurements, control, and calculations. Our system also includes user interfaces such as HMI (Human Machine Interface), diagnostic tools and IT infrastructure and IT security. For this we utilize our in house developed real-time platform MACH to meet the power industry’s standards.\nLocation Office: Glasgow preferred, alternatively Birmingham (Working Pattern: Hybrid 3 days office / 2 days home)\nHow you'll make an impact:\nLead the project execution & deliver project tasks according to the time plan and with right quality.\nUnderstand the contract scope and ensure awareness on the customer requirements.\nReview Design Specifications, Overview Diagrams and Concept Clarifications in close cooperation with the concept coordinators. \nClosely interacting with project team and support the team for smooth execution of project.\nAbility to work independently maintaining excellent quality and optimized design in developing deliverables.\nInteraction with multiple departments for the co-ordination and smooth execution of project.\nWork together with our customers, both internally and externally, to ensure our delivery is according to their requirements and standards.\nDesign, Review and Validate Cubicle design, integration of all HW components into the cubicles.\nValidate Bill of materials and initiate timely order with proper estimate of the lead time for the materials required for the project \nCoordination with cubicles manufacturers for the timeline of cubicle manufacturing.\nValidate the design drawings / documents provided by sub supplier to meet customer specifications and internal Standards\nParticipating in or leading design review meetings to detect design errors, process, and tool inefficiencies, and putting in place corrective and improvement actions.\nExposure / Basic Knowledge in International electrical (IEEE/IEC) Standards.\nTaking Initiative in engineering Process optimizations, standardization etc.\nProviding necessary support during Functional Performance tests and Site Commissioning\nProviding necessary support during Factory system tests and Site Commissioning.\nCollaborating and networking with engineering colleagues, sharing best practice across different projects and disciplines\nYour Background\nYou hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree within the relevant technical area.\nStrong knowledge in control & protection panel design (CRP).\nSite experience in control & protection testing & commissioning is an advantage but not essential.\nTechnical co-ordinations with sub suppliers and multiple stakeholders in different locations\nPreparation of Design Specifications, Overview Diagrams and Concept Clarifications in close cooperation with the concept coordinators\nInvolved in FAT / SAT activities with along with sub suppliers.\nExperience in HVDC projects will be an added advantage.\nExperience with the CAD-tools for control systems, such as Engineering Base is valuable\nIf you have EMC knowledge or experience of AC sub-stations and control systems, it is a merit.\nMore about us\nWe believe great work thrives in an environment where people feel genuinely supported and fairly rewarded.
