Data Communication Network Work Package Leader
About the Role
Data Communication Network Work Package Leader contributes to Hitachi’s responsibility to design, manage interfaces, and prepare the documentation needed for installation, test and placing in service approvals. Its specific contribution is to lead subsystem design, requirement allocation, interface closure, support installation/testing, analyse defects and prepare handover evidence.
Key Responsibilities
Own Data Communication Network scope, schedule, budget inputs, risks, issues, dependencies, supplier delivery and acceptance milestones.
Ensure Data Communication Network requirements, architecture, interface documents, design outputs, procurement deliverables, installation work packs, test procedures and handover records are complete and traceable.
Manage technical decisions and interfaces related to routing/switching, segmentation, resilience, IP addressing, time/network services, cybersecurity zones and interfaces.
Coordinate FAT, SAT, integration testing, defect resolution, cybersecurity/safety/RAM/quality evidence, O&M data and training inputs.
Report progress, blockers, change exposure and readiness status to Engineering and Project Governance.
Apply the Hitachi Code of Conduct in role-specific decisions, including ethical escalation, anti-bribery discipline, confidentiality, data protection, fair supplier/customer conduct and transparent records.
Lead subsystem design, requirement allocation, interface closure, support installation/testing, analyse defects and prepare handover evidence.
Package/discipline authority within assigned subsystem baseline.
Can approve day-to-day subsystem design/configuration decisions inside delegated scope and escalate safety, schedule, interface or contractual issues.
Key Interfaces
Engineering Manager, Solution Engineering Manager, Interface & Integration Manager, Requirements Manager and Configuration & Defect Manager.
Safety, RAM, Cybersecurity, Quality, Installation, IVVQ/T&C, O&M and Training teams.
Suppliers, subcontractors, customer technical counterparts and adjacent WPLs.
Design reviews.
Subsystem progress reviews.
Readiness and defect reviews.
Authority & Accountability
Accountable for delivery performance and acceptance readiness of Data Communication Network.
Authorised to coordinate supplier/technical work, request recovery actions and recommend design/test/acceptance decisions within delegated competence.
Escalates unresolved technical, commercial, supplier or interface risks to Engineering Manager and Project Manager.
Mandate
Deliver Data Communication Network as an integrated, accepted and maintainable part of the overall railway solution.
Skills & Experience
Work package leadership or senior system engineering experience relevant to Data Communication Network and routing/switching, segmentation, resilience, IP addressing, time/network services, cybersecurity zones and interfaces.
Ability to manage suppliers, technical interfaces, assurance evidence and acceptance stakeholders across the full lifecycle.
Strong understanding of requirements, configuration, installation and T&C dependencies.
Resilience and resistance to stress during supplier delays, integration defects, test failures and acceptance pressure.
Ownership mindset, technical credibility and disciplined reporting.
More than 7 years for WPL/lead and more than 5 years for supporting engineers.
Deep domain expertise in the named subsystem and multi-supplier interface experience.
