The opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy's Grid Integration business as a PGGI Business Controller and play a key role in supporting our growing operations across the Netherlands and Belgium. In this position, you will combine business and project controlling responsibilities, partnering closely with management, project teams, and finance stakeholders to drive business performance, ensure financial compliance, and support strategic decision-making. As a member of the local management team, you will contribute to the success of a dynamic and international organization that is shaping the future of sustainable energy.

How you'll make an impact

  • Act as a trusted finance business partner to the Europe Hub Controller, local management, project managers, and controllers across Hitachi Energy business units
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing and reporting activities, ensuring compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, tax requirements, and audit standards
  • Drive budgeting, rolling forecasts, variance analyses, cost center reporting, and management reporting to support business performance and decision-making
  • Support the ongoing SAP S/4HANA transformation by contributing to process design, testing activities, and reporting enhancements
  • Deliver financial analyses and actionable insights to support operational, strategic, and business decisions
  • Ensure compliance with internal control and governance requirements, including SOX controls and responsibilities within the three-lines-of-defense framework
  • Partner with Project Controlling and Project Managers to conduct project reviews, assess financial risks, manage trade finance matters, and maintain accurate project forecasts and billing plans
  • Support full-cost model reviews, risk assessments, and financial evaluations of projects and business initiatives
  • Manage key accounting-related activities, including provisions, balance sheet reviews, reconciliations, and financial performance analyses
  • Monitor cross-divisional cost allocations and actively contribute to business planning and continuous performance improvement as a member of the local management team

Your background

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5-8 years of professional experience in business and/or project controlling, ideally within a comparable industrial, infrastructure, or project-driven environment
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting principles, IFRS, and local GAAP requirements
  • Hands-on SAP experience, particularly within FI/CO modules; knowledge of SAP S/4HANA is considered a strong advantage
  • Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, management reporting, financial business partnering, and supporting strategic decision-making
  • Sound understanding of internal controls, governance processes, SOX compliance, audit requirements, and experience driving change initiatives, ERP transformations, and process improvement projects
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently, collaborate across functions, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality results in a dynamic environment
  • Fluent Dutch and English, both written and spoken; French is considered an advantage
  • Valid EU work authorization and a valid driver's license
