Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivatedIntern - Signalling Engineer for summer 2027. The internship opportunity will provide exposure to Wayside Signalling Engineering. The position is based on-site inPittsburgh, PA.

Hitachi Rail provides signaling systems for metros and light rail systems. Our solutions provide efficient, safe and green transportation solutions for people around the world. We’re looking for eligible students to join Hitachi Rail! Hiring for May 2027 through August 2027.
Accountabilities:
- Assist in the design of wayside interlocking circuits in accordance with established design principles, procedures, and specifications.
- Assist in programming wayside microprocessor devices in accordance with interlocking rules and all related specifications.
- Prepare project and design documentation.
- Assist with test setup and testing of wayside systems. This includes system integration testing with Carborne, office and other systems.
- Follow established design principles, procedures and specifications as detailed for proper programming of microprocessor devices.
- Assist in developing cost estimates for project bids
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong relevant technical skills
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired Skills / Knowledge:
- Display problem solving and analytical skills to provide optimal solutions
- Display ability to think strategically as part of a group
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Display excellent time management & organizational skills
- Exhibit proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrate competency in programming fundamentals, DC/AC circuit design and analysis & Digital Logic design
- Experience with troubleshooting and debugging
Education: Current Engineering student at a 4-year university with a graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028
Languages: English Proficient
