The team is responsible for supporting accurate and timely financial processes across customer projects, with a particular focus on project accounting, billing, and revenue recognition.\nIn this role, you will report to the Finance Manager and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of project and customer financial data.\nThe Role\nAs a Junior Project Accountant, you will be responsible for managing project accounting activities, including project setup, customer invoicing, revenue recognition, and revenue-related month-end close activities. You will support a portfolio of customer projects in a labor-based environment, ensuring accurate and timely billing and compliance with US GAAP and internal policies.\nYour key responsibilities will include:\nOwn and support key processes within the company’s revenue cycle, ensuring proper revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP and internal policies.\nReview new contracts and purchase orders for non-standard terms and conditions and ensure appropriate project setup, billing, and revenue recognition.\nWork closely with management to review client contracts and maintain the accuracy and integrity of customer and project data.\nRecord monthly revenue recognition and prepare revenue-related journal entries, including revenue deferrals.\nProcess customer invoices, ensuring that billable resources, hours, and rates are captured accurately and on time for Time and Materials, Fixed Price, and Cost Plus professional services engagements.\nManage day-to-day revenue accounting activities, including month-end close, reconciliation of revenue-related accounts, deferred revenue analysis, and preparation of internal and external audit schedules.\nPartner with Delivery, Sales, Finance, and other teams to resolve customer billing queries and other project-related financial issues.\nAnalyze revenue trends and support accurate management and external financial reporting.\nDevelop a strong understanding of systems, transaction flows, and internal controls, identifying opportunities to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.\nPartner with the ERP team and other departments to streamline and automate accounting processes related to revenue recognition, invoicing, and customer management.\nWhat You Will Bring\n1+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or a related area (preferably OTC area)\nGood understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.\nIntermediate Excel skills.\nStrong verbal and written English communication skills.\nAbility to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.\nStrong organizational and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.\nA collaborative approach and the ability to build effective working relationships across teams.\nA positive, proactive attitude and willingness to continuously improve processes.\nNice to have:\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business Management, or a related field.\nPrevious experience with project accounting, revenue accounting, or billing, particularly in a labor-based or professional services environment.\nExperience working with cross-functional teams.\nExperience with Oracle ERP and/or Salesforce PSA.\nAbout us\nWe’re a global, 1000-stong, diverse team of professional experts, promoting and delivering Social Innovation through our One Hitachi initiative (OT x IT x Product) and working on projects that have a real-world impact.
