The role supports the design of advanced software products for the energy sector and contributes to an evidence-based product vision for complex power-automation engineering environments.\nYou will learn to apply an end-to-end design process - from understanding business objectives and user needs to mapping workflows, prototyping, testing and refining solutions. Working under guidance, you will gradually take ownership of clearly scoped UX tasks while building your research, interaction design, visual design and communication skills.\nHow You Will Make an Impact\nSupport UX research and design activities within an end-to-end design thinking process.\nWork with designers, product managers, product owners, engineers and domain experts to understand business objectives, user needs, scope and constraints.\nReview product documentation, backlog items, existing designs, issue reports, training materials and technical artefacts.\nHelp prepare stakeholder and user interviews, usability tests, interview scripts and research materials.\nParticipate in interviews, workshops and usability-testing sessions, with guidance from more experienced team members.\nOrganize and synthesize findings, distinguishing evidence from assumptions, opinions and technical constraints.\nContribute to user archetypes, jobs-to-be-done, journey maps, use cases and problem statements.\nMap user flows and clearly scoped workflows, including key steps, decisions, dependencies, handovers and error conditions.\nBrainstorm concepts and translate requirements into wireframes, prototypes and user-interface designs.\nIterate designs based on research findings, usability feedback, design reviews and technical input.\nApply established design-system components, UX methods, accessibility principles and interface-design best practices.\nDocument design decisions and present work clearly to UX, product and engineering stakeholders.\nManage assigned tasks reliably, communicate progress and risks, and ask for support when needed.\nContinuously develop knowledge of UX methods, tools, the energy domain and complex engineering software.\nYour Background\nUp to up to 2 years of professional UX/UI, product design or relevant project experience; strong graduate, internship, freelance or academic work is welcome.\nA portfolio demonstrating your design process, problem-solving approach and contribution to at least one digital product or service.\nFoundational understanding of user-centered design, interaction design, information architecture, usability and visual hierarchy.\nBasic experience with user research, workflow or journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping and usability testing.\nAbility to analyze information, identify patterns and translate findings into clear design decisions.\nCuriosity about complex domains and motivation to understand technical workflows, user roles and constraints.\nOpenness to feedback, willingness to learn and ability to iterate your work.\nGood organization, attention to detail and reliability in delivering assigned tasks.\nAbility to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional and international environment.\nProfessional English sufficient for meetings, workshops and documentation.\nWorking knowledge of common UX design and prototyping tools.\nA bachelor’s degree in design, HCI, computer science, information sciences or a related field is a plus.\nExperience with enterprise software, industrial automation, energy, utilities, engineering tools or products combining software and physical devices is a plus.\nMore about us\nAt Hitachi Energy, we recognize that our people are at the heart of our success.
