And that’s where you come in.\nJob Description:\nYour New Role\nIn this role you will be responsible for providing technical leadership for fleet safety, reliability and performance. You will also be leading the local Support Engineering team, coordinate engineering activities, drive investigations and continuous improvement programmes, and deputise for the Engineering Manager when required\nWhat you’ll be doing\nLead, manage and develop the Shift Support Engineers at the TMC. \nCo-ordinate with Lead Support Engineers at other TMCs to balance shift engineering resource requirements and workload allocation.\nRepresent Hitachi at Periodic Customer Meetings\nAct as an Engineering lead and focal point for TMC related engineering activity and support requirements. \nLead technical investigations into fleet performance reliability and safety issues, driving root cause analysis, containment actions and permanent corrective actions. \nAnalyse the output of remote condition monitoring systems to identify performance risks to the fleet.\nEnsure SoWs are in place and prioritised accordingly for safety, reliability and performance affecting defects.\nEnsure accurate and consistent root cause data is captured for KPI, availability and penalties.\nAssess, approve and manage concession requests.\nOwn and monitor reliability performance & reporting and identify areas to improve reliability through reliability growth modelling. \nProduce and implement engineering fleet checks and engineering changes as required.\nAct as a competent peer reviewer to ensure Engineering change compliance with applicable industry standards\nProduce technical engineering reports for major faults.\nMaintain engineering documentation - including but not limited to, VMIs, VMPs, FFGs, defect handling guides and modification instructions. \nIdentify and support optimisation work streams including opportunities to champion digital solutions and condition-based monitoring tools. \nAct as an SME for allocated system(s).\nOwn engineering risk and safety performance - including SRDs and HRDs for allocated system(s)\nDeputise for Engineering Manager. \nParticipate in engineering on-call roster and incident response. \nAbout you\nHND/HNC, degree or equivalent engineering qualification.\nSignificant rolling stock or complex asset engineering experience (desirable)\nExperience in rolling stock safety management, reliability improvement and technical investigation (desirable)\nExperience leading technical teams.\nSound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times.\nWhat we offer\nWe value the importance of all of our employees, if you would like to join our fantastic organisation you could be entitled to:\nCompetitive salary\n25 days holiday\nPotential opportunity for annual performance related bonus\nPension scheme with contributions up to 9%\nPrivate medical insurance\nPersonal Accident insurance\nGroup Income protection\nGroup Life Insurance\nEmployee Assistance Programme\nWe also offer additional perks for you to choose from within a flexible plan that will meet your specific needs and lifestyle.\nClosing date for applications is 1st November 2026.\nThank you for your interest in Hitachi Rail.
