If you have a strong technical background and are looking to build a long-term, stable career with a global organisation at the forefront of rail innovation, this could be the role for you.\nSalary: £45,532\n15% Shift allowance\n£6000 Location allowance\nPermanent Contract \n\nAccountabilities\n In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll carry out scheduled maintenance on our modern fleet of Class 800 rolling stock supporting the Intercity Express Programme (IEP) on the GWR West Main Line.\nYou’ll be part of a high-performing, collaborative team in a fast-paced depot environment that values safety, continuous improvement, adaptability and innovation.\nThis is a permanent role working a rotating day and night shift pattern.\nSpecifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:\nPerform scheduled maintenance activities on the rolling stock in accordance with the vehicle maintenance instructions.\nUndertake servicing and preparation of the rolling stock.\nUndertake driving duties within depot confines in accordance with the depot operating procedures and instructions.\nActively participate in the ongoing continuous improvement activities for maintenance processes and maintenance procedures that support all depot and fleet activities.\nSupport the delivery of new trains and undertake the maintenance acceptance processes.\nEnsure exam tasks are being completed in a timely manner, undertake basic fault rectification or repair when required.\nAdherence to all health and safety processes and procedures.\nAttendance at testing locations, main line station and outstations to undertake preventative and corrective maintenance as required.\nMust be prepared to travel and overnight away from base location for short periods of time.\nSupport the Maintenance Team Leaders and Shift Production Managers in the delivery of the production plan.\nRecord all work activities and stock consumption using the maintenance management system in accordance with maintenance processes and procedures.\nWorking shifts to meet the service requirements of fleet customers.\nAssist as required with any other responsibilities relevant to the role based on localised requirements.\nAbout you\nRequired Skills/ Knowledge\nExperience of working a 24/7 shift roster in a modern rolling stock maintenance depot environment.\nOutstanding Safety Awareness gained in an operational railway engineering environment.\nExperience of working at stabling outstations or main line station technical support.\nModern fault finding and repair techniques using pc-based laptops and remote train diagnostics.\nReading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics and drawings reading\nExtensive experience of modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and associated reliability and available trend analysis.\nExperience of performing modifications and campaigns on modern rolling stock.\n\nEducation/Qualifications\nCompleted apprenticeship in mechanical and/or electrical disciplines.\n Engineering NVQ Level 2 o3 (or equivalent).\n\nBehavioural\nCalm, professional and diplomatic under pressure.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nConfident working collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.\nLoyal, committed, proactive and determined approach to work\n\nDesired Skills (not essential)\nAbility to investigate complex electrical and mechanical faults and write detailed reports.\nIntermediate IT skills - typically Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook\nTrain driving, Fire warden, First Aider\nPowered plant and tools - bogie drop, cranes, air systems / 110v tools.\nTrain driving assessment and licence.\nDepot Protection\nWorking at Height, COSHH, Manual handling, AC/DC Depot isolation\nNetwork Rail Sentinel PTS\nWhat we offer\nWe value the importance of all of our employees, if you would like to join our fantastic organisation you could be entitled to:\nCompetitive salary\n25 days holiday\nPension scheme with employer contributions up to 9%\nPrivate medical insurance\nPersonal Accident insurance\nGroup Income protection\nGroup Life Insurance\nEmployee Assistance Programme\nYou’ll also have access to a flexible benefits platform, allowing you to tailor additional perks to suit your lifestyle and individual needs.\nThank you for your interest in Hitachi Rail.
