And that’s where you come in.\nJob Description:\n\n Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Mechanical Installer in Baltimore, MD in support of our North American Vehicles projects, who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic.\nMain Tasks & Responsibilities ( include but are not limited to) :\nFollowing a pre-established schedule for the installation of equipment on transit vehicles including those associated with propulsion, trucks, pneumatic supply and brake control, air conditioning, fiberglass panels, glass, flooring, doors as required to achieve manufacturer specifications.\nUses precision measuring devices in the course of the work.\nMeasures and inspects completed work to confirm adherence to specifications.\nRecord all findings accurately in provided Test Reports, for inclusion into Car History Books that follow each completed vehicle such as torque values, part and serial numbers.\nPerforms modifications to rail vehicle as directed by engineering and supervisory staff.\nReads and interprets engineering drawings, manuals and work orders.\nDocuments work performed and parts and materials used; follows specified safety procedures.\nMay perform welding and burning.\nUsing and maintaining hand and power tools equipment of the trade.\nMaintaining accurate records of work performed and materials used.\nJob Skills, Experience and Qualifications\nExperience in installation of mechanic equipment.\nRequires an understanding of assembly build practices and procedures.\nMust have good mathematical skills.\nBasic knowledge of mechanical torque, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.\nMust own and maintain a basic hand tool set.\nExperience in precision measuring equipment i.e., caliper, micrometer, pie tape, etc.\nMust have experience working within and maintaining a safe work environment.\nExperience with working in diverse and busy team environments.\nAbility to read and understand drawings, analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to prioritize and work well under pressure and against deadlines.\nAttention to quality control and customer service.\nSelf-motivated and ability to multi-task\nEducation\nMust have a minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.\nTechnical trade school degree/certificate desired\nAbility to read, write and communicate proficiently in English.\nPhysical Demands\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.\nThe employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.\nWork Environment\nThis position works in a warehouse/production environment. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
