In this role, you will drive innovation in power electronics, converter hardware, PCBA design, EMI/EMC design and compliance, and system integration technologies.\nHow You Will Make an Impact\n· Lead R&D activities focused on power electronics hardware for power converter systems\n· Design PCB layouts and create engineering packages for PCBAs, including gate-drive and sensing circuits, protection, control boards, and auxiliary power supplies.\n· Perform schematic capture, component selection, stack-up definition, layout reviews, and design verification of complex multilayer PCB assemblies.\n· Develop hardware solutions utilizing wide bandgap power semiconductors.\n· Lead EMI/EMC design activities including emissions mitigation, grounding, shielding, isolation, and filter development.\n· Conduct simulation, laboratory testing, prototype validation, and failure analysis.\n· Collaborate with controls, software, transformer, insulation, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.\n· Drive innovation through patents, publications, and technology transfer.\nYour Background\n· M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field.\n· At least 5 years of experience in power electronics hardware design and validation.\n· Demonstrated experience designing converters or grid-connected power conversion equipment.\n· Proven experience in PCBA design and development including schematic capture, layout review, DFM, and DFT.\n· Expertise in EMI/EMC design, troubleshooting, compliance testing, and mitigation techniques.\n· Knowledge of high-voltage isolation, creepage and clearance requirements, and safety-critical hardware design.\n· Experience with different types of semiconductor devices.\n· Experience with laboratory instrumentation and EMC test equipment.\n· Excellent communication and technical leadership skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\n· Experience with Altium Designer (or similar) for PCB design.\n· Experience with Ansys FEA toolset to model and simulate the EMI/EMC performance of power electronic based systems.\n· Knowledge of reliability analysis methods including FMEA and root-cause failure analysis.\n· Experience integrating DSP, FPGA, and embedded control platforms into power electronic products.\nAccessibility and reasonable accommodation\nQualified individuals with a disability may request a reasonable accommodation if you are unable or limited in your ability to use or access the Hitachi Energy career site as a result of your disability.
