And that’s where you come in.\nJob Description:\nWe are currently looking for a Radio Technician to join the Field Support team.\nAs a Radio Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, testing and commissioning of radio infrastructure. This includes radio base stations, radiating and non-radiating cable, antennas, cell enhancers, RF over fibre systems and related equipment.\nThe Radio Engineer will work in a team alongside other telecommunications specialists on a range of projects in the railway environment. They are responsible for ensuring that all works are carried out safely and correctly and in line with the applicable standards and designs. The Radio Engineer will lead, or support fault-finding and maintenance activities as required.\nThe Radio Engineer must understand the limits of their own competency and the constraints associated with working on a live, safety-related communications network in the railway environment.\nThis role will be based at our Waterloo office and will involve working permanent night shifts.\nKey Responsibilities:\nInstallation of radio infrastructure, including radiating and non-radiating cable; splitters, couplers and other passive components; amplifiers, channel- and band-selective repeaters; RF over fibre systems; antennas and other equipment for TETRA and other radio systems.\nInstallation of GPS antennas and systems.\nModification of existing and legacy radio systems.\nTesting and commissioning of radio infrastructure, including cable loss, return loss, distance to fault and receiver de-sensitization tests. \nInstallation, testing and commissioning of radio base stations, including the Motorola and MTS4 systems.\nCompilation of detailed test results to a professional standard.\nInterpretation of design instructions and drawings, and their implementation. \nApplication of encryption keys for Airwave systems.\nFault-finding and fault rectification, including support for the operations and\nInstallation, commissioning and repair of DC power and UPS systems.\nSupporting other engineers with the installation and commissioning of other types of telecommunication’s system, including transmission systems, fibre optic cables, and copper telephony.\nTechnical Skills and Experience\nMust be able to install and commission radio base stations, antennas and other infrastructure.\nThe role holder needs to be technically competent and adaptable.\nCommissioning radio base stations\nInstallation and commissioning of radio infrastructure\nProven experience with TETRA radio control and power systems.\nStrong understanding of Airwave communication systems.\nExperience supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting legacy radio systems.\nExperience with other telecommunications systems (fibre optics, transmission, telephony)\nundefined\nundefined\nHuman Skills\nHighly organised\nExcellent written English and verbal communication skills.\nEffective prioritisation\nExcellent problem solver\nAbility to perform effectively in high-pressure environments while managing time and deadlines efficiently.· \nAble to prioritise tasks, manage workload independently, and balance competing demands.\nWhat We Can Offer\nWe are committed to giving you opportunities to be your best.
