And that’s where you come in.\nJob Description:\nHitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Rail Electrical Test & Commissioning Supervisor with strong leadership capability, technical expertise, and experience delivering electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities within complex rail infrastructure environments. This position is based in Brisbane, Australia.\nAs the Rail Electrical Test & Commissioning Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating electrical installation, compliance testing, commissioning, and energisation activities across rail systems projects. Acting as the nominated Electrical Supervisor and Qualified Technical Person (QTP) where required, you will provide technical leadership to project teams and contractors, ensuring all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable electrical legislation, rail standards, and project requirements.\nThe role will play a critical part in supporting the integration, testing, commissioning, acceptance, and handover of telecommunications and electrical assets into operational service. You will work closely with engineering, construction, commissioning, operations, and client stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.\nKey Responsibilities\nSupervise electrical installation, testing, commissioning, and energisation activities across rail infrastructure projects.\nAct as the nominated Electrical Supervisor and Qualified Technical Person (QTP) where required.\nConduct and witness electrical compliance testing and ensure all testing records are accurately maintained.\nIdentify electrical defects and non-conformances and coordinate corrective actions through to closure.\nReview engineering drawings and documentation and provide constructability, safety, and compliance feedback.\nSupport FAT, SAT, integrated testing, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.\nPrepare and maintain test records, commissioning reports, completion documentation, and as-built drawings.\nCoordinate contractors, suppliers, and project teams to ensure safe and efficient delivery of work.\nEnsure compliance with electrical safety legislation, rail standards, project procedures, and quality requirements.\nSupport asset acceptance, handover, and operational readiness activities.\nProvide technical guidance and leadership to site personnel and subcontractors.\nSupport the safe integration of electrical and telecommunications systems into operational railway environments.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project delivery, quality, and safety outcomes.\nAbout You\nDemonstrated experience supervising electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities within rail, signalling, telecommunications, or critical infrastructure environments.\nStrong understanding of electrical safety legislation, compliance requirements, permit systems, and safe working practices.\nExperience supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and asset acceptance activities.\nAbility to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and contractors in live operational and safety-critical environments.\nProven capability in identifying, managing, and closing defects and non-conformances to support project delivery.\nStrong technical understanding of rail systems and interfaces between electrical, signalling, telecommunications, and operational technology systems.\nExperience reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation and providing constructability and compliance feedback.\nExcellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across multiple delivery teams.\nStrong organisational skills with experience maintaining accurate testing records, commissioning documentation, and as-built information.\nCommitment to promoting a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.\nSkills & Experience\nCurrent Electrical Worker Licence (Queensland or equivalent Australian State/Territory licence).\nCurrent Construction Industry White Card.\nDemonstrated knowledge of rail operations and interfaces with signalling, telecommunications, traction power, and train systems.\nProject reporting experience, leadership development training, or equivalent practical supervisory experience.\nExperience supervising installation, testing, and commissioning activities within rail, signalling, telecommunications, or critical infrastructure environments.\nExperience producing CAD mark-ups and as-built documentation.\nWorking knowledge of relevant rail industry standards, electrical standards, and commissioning practices.\nAbility to plan, coordinate, and execute testing and commissioning activities within demanding project environments.\nStrong stakeholder management and communication skills.\nProven fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capability.\nStrong understanding of quality assurance, compliance, and safety management principles.\nDemonstrated leadership experience managing contractors and technical teams.\nAbility to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.\nAdaptable and willing to learn emerging technologies, systems, and industry processes.\nWhat We Offer\nAnnual performance, development, and salary review process.\nOngoing professional development and training.\nSalary continuance.\nHealth and Wellbeing initiatives throughout the year (incl. flu vaccinations).\nEmployee Assistance Program (employees and family).\nDays off per year sponsored by the company in addition to the statutory public holidays and leave entitlements.\nInvitation to attend and participate in Company sponsored social events throughout the year.\nThank you for your interest in Hitachi Rail.
