You will analyze converter architectures and bills of materials to find high-cost drivers, lead technical evaluations of alternative components and technologies,\nquantify savings potential, and build the business cases that turn opportunities into implemented change.\nHow You’ll Make an Impact:\nPerform design-to-cost and value engineering studies, lead technical evaluations of alternative components, materials, and technologies, and quantify savings potential with clear business cases for implementation.\nAnalyze power converter architectures for cost optimization opportunities and collaborate with design teams to simplify circuits, assemblies, and manufacturing processes.\nReview product bills of materials to identify high-cost drivers, and conduct component derating and qualification assessments for alternative parts.\nSupport redesign activities while ensuring technical performance, quality, reliability, and compliance requirements are maintained.\nWork closely with sourcing and supplier quality teams to identify alternative suppliers and technologies, and support localization and dual-sourcing initiatives.\nParticipate in supplier technical reviews and cost workshops, and evaluate supplier proposals from \ntechnical, reliability, and performance perspectives.\nDefine validation plans for cost-reduction changes and support prototype testing and qualification activities.\nAnalyze risks associated with component substitutions and design modifications, and ensure compliance with applicable standards and customer requirements.\nCoordinate with product development, manufacturing engineering, industrialization, supply chain, procurement, quality, and service organizations, and provide technical recommendations to product management and engineering leadership.\nDevelop cost-out roadmaps for strategic product families, and establish cost benchmarking methods and competitive product analysis.\nContribute to design guidelines that improve product cost efficiency in future platforms.\nResponsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.\nLiving Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.\nYour background\nBachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.\nMinimum 5 years of experience in power electronics product development, industrialization, manufacturing engineering, or value engineering.\nStrong knowledge of AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, inverters, energy storage systems, and industrial power conversion systems.\nHands-on experience with power semiconductors such as IGBT, MOSFET, and SiC devices, together with magnetics, capacitors, PCB assemblies, and thermal management systems.\nUnderstanding of manufacturing processes and product cost drivers.\nExperience conducting technical trade-off analyses between cost, reliability, and performance.\nStrong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, a cost-conscious engineering mindset, and the communication skills to influence engineering, sourcing, and supplier stakeholders.
