And that’s where you come in.\nJob Description:\nWe’re looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to take responsibility for the successful delivery of a major project or portfolio of projects within Hitachi Rail.\nThis role offers hybrid working, providing flexibility between working remotely and collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders on-site.\nThis is a senior leadership role requiring strong project delivery expertise, commercial awareness and the ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams. You’ll be responsible for ensuring projects are successfully delivered to time, cost and quality, while maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers and senior stakeholders.\nYou’ll work closely with the Project Director, Project Leadership Team, Project Management Office and wider business functions including Engineering, Finance, Commercial, Legal, Quality, Health & Safety and Operations.\nKey Responsibilities\nAs Senior Project Manager, you will:\nTake overall responsibility for project delivery performance, ensuring successful delivery against time, cost and quality objectives.\nProvide leadership and direction to multidisciplinary project teams.\nEnsure projects are delivered in accordance with appropriate governance processes.\nLead project planning, scheduling and resource management activities.\nManage project schedules, including P6 scheduling, schedule maturity assessments and Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA).\nManage project risks and opportunities, ensuring appropriate actions and controls are in place.\nEffectively manage project change, including variations and claims, ensuring changes against the project baseline are recorded and controlled.\nSupport the Project Director in delivering against key business KPIs, including revenue, cash and EBIT.\nMonitor project performance and provide clear, concise and relevant reporting to senior business leaders.\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, suppliers and internal stakeholders.\nSupport and develop less-experienced Project Managers through coaching and guidance.\nOversee effective project launch and closure activities.\nWork collaboratively across Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering and other business functions.\nAbout You\nWe’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:\nStrong professional project management skills, with experience delivering high-value, complex projects.\nExperience leading large, multidisciplinary teams.\nEffective leadership across complex, multi-site organisations.\nExcellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills, including working with customers, partners and suppliers.\nExtensive client and stakeholder management experience at senior levels.\nStrong commercial, financial and business acumen.\nExperience in project planning, scheduling, estimating, budgeting and resource management.\nStrong knowledge of project governance, risk and opportunity management and change control.\nThe ability to provide clear and succinct project performance information to senior leaders.\nStrong analytical skills, including the ability to investigate and understand cost variances.\nExperience working across business functions, with an understanding of commercial management, finance and supply chain.\nExperience effectively managing project launch and closure.\nThe ability to coach and develop Project Managers and wider project team members.\nExcellent communication, interpersonal and motivational skills.\nDesirable\nIt would be advantageous if you have:\nExperience working within a technical environment in the Rail industry.\nKnowledge of transportation solutions, including train control, communications and safety systems.\nIPMA Level C or B, or an equivalent level of professional project management accreditation.\nClosing date for applications is 25th October 2026\nThank you for your interest in Hitachi Rail.
