And that’s where you come in.\nJob Description:\nYour new role\nWe have an exciting opportunity for a Senior RAMS Engineer to join our engineering organisation, providing specialist Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Technical Safety (RAMS) expertise across projects, products and bids.\nWorking within our Mainline signalling environment, you’ll play an important role in delivering the safety and assurance activities that support complex, safety-critical railway systems throughout the project lifecycle. From defining safety requirements and undertaking RAMS analysis through to Safety Case development, approval and acceptance, this is an opportunity to apply your expertise across the full engineering lifecycle.\nYou’ll work closely with engineering teams, customers and independent bodies, helping ensure our RAMS and assurance activities are delivered consistently and to the required quality.\nSome key responsibilities\nProvide specialist Technical Safety, RAM and System Assurance support across engineering projects.\nDeliver RAMS engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from initial specification and Safety Case development through to safety approval and acceptance.\nLead and support quantitative and qualitative system safety and RAM analyses.\nManage hazards from initial identification through to closeout, including safety requirements specification and SIL determination.\nWork directly with customers to capture and define system and safety requirements and agree verification, validation and safety demonstration requirements.\nCoordinate and support RAMS input into bids, including safety management, engineering, assurance and approval activities.\nLead RAMS activities during Project and Product Design Reviews, ensuring Technical Safety and Assurance requirements have been appropriately implemented.\nDevelop remits and manage contracts with independent bodies.\nPrepare and supervise on-site testing and commissioning of railway assets, equipment and systems.\nInitiate and participate in safety reviews and audits.\nSupport incident reporting and response, including root-cause analysis, corrective actions and lessons learned.\nContribute to strategic, communication and training initiatives across the wider RAMS function.\nAbout you\nYou’ll be an experienced RAMS or System Assurance professional with a strong understanding of safety-critical engineering and the ability to combine technical expertise with confident stakeholder management.\nWe’re looking for:\nA strong Technical Safety and RAM engineering background.\nKnowledge and experience of railway systems and assets.\nExperience applying Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) and Engineering Safety techniques, methods and tools.\nKnowledge and experience of railway RAMS standards including EN50126, EN50716 and EN50129, alongside European Railway Regulation for Safety and Interoperability.\nExperience delivering RAMS activities within the rail or construction industry.\nExperience within System Assurance.\nA demonstrable track record of delivering safety solutions through approval and into operation.\nExperience developing Safety Cases for complex and safety-critical systems.\nThe ability to lead work packages and undertake independent investigations.\nStrong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.\nThe ability to communicate effectively and influence stakeholders while managing competing priorities.\nKnowledge of UK mainline railway signalling, control and information systems, experience developing complex Safety Cases and Risk Assessments, and Chartered Engineer status or membership of a relevant professional body would be advantageous.\nWhat we offer\nWe are committed to giving you opportunities to be your best.
