And that’s where you come in.\nJob Description:\nWe are looking for a Senior Software Analyst to join our Integration, Testing and Validation (ITV) team in Toronto!\nThe Senior Software Analyst in Testing is responsible for ensuring the quality of software delivery for large scale rail signalling projects. The candidate will work with other software developers and systems engineers to create, execute and evaluate in house software tests and test plans. As senior member of the team, the role will involve technical leadership and mentoring of junior testers. As part of the software delivery team the candidate will gain experience in rail signalling and CBTC and develop a deep understanding of both the signalling systems and rail operation. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and skills in software testing and development. A proactive mind set and desire to make a difference will be key to the success of the role.\nKey Responsibilities\nTechnical:\nPerforms analysis of system, subsystem and software requirements to define validation methods, and test cases\n\nDevelops and maintains test plans, procedures and test cases\n\nPrepares test reports for pass and fail status of tests and identify root cause of failures reported during testing\n\nPlans and performs integration and test activities in-house and at project sites to mitigate the key project commissioning risk\n\nDevelopment of test automation\n\nInvestigates test anomalies through analysis of data files, design documentation and interaction with development departments\n\nPrepares problem reports in the defect tracking system describing test failures and defects\n\nAssists in the development of Software Assessment team (SWAT) schedules and budgets and associated progress report\n\nConduct operational and stress-test (bust-it) scenarios\n\nConduct testing in laboratory environment and on desktop simulation environment\n\nEffectively communicate test observation and results to engineering staff, supervisors and customers\n\nAdhere to the company’s Processes and Work Instructions\n\nAcquires product knowledge through active participation in formal, and on the job training, as well as self-study\n\nNon-Technical\nWork on several projects consecutively and demonstrate ability to deliver on time and on-budget\n\nWork effectively cross functional teams and build long-term working relationship with others\n\nPlan, organize and supervise testing activities\n\nCoach and train junior team members.\n\nWork independently, planning, prioritizing and scheduling own work\n\nContinuously seek and propose improvements to methods and processes utilized for testing\n\nSafety\nPromote a safety culture where product safety is paramount\n\nEnsure that safety is built into the test strategy by early identification and resolution of safety related defects\n\nRequired Skills and Experience\nB.Sc. in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or equivalent\n\nMinimum 5 years of relevant software testing or development experience\n\nWorking knowledge of C, C++, Perl, or Python\n\nStrong planning and organization skills.\n\nStrong technical writing and interpersonal communication skills.\n\nDemonstrated fluency and understanding/comprehension in oral and written English\n\nExperience with modern software development methodology, processes, and tools (Agile, SCRUM, DevOps,JIRA)\n\nOffice software tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)\n\nPreferred Skills and Experience\nExperience working in regulated industries: rail signaling, aerospace, or medical systems\n\nExperience with real time systems and embedded system testing\n\nKnowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, wireless communication (802.11, LTE).\n\nKnowledge or rail signaling and CBTC systems\n\nBase Salary Range : $91,000-117,000\nThe Company provides an extensive benefits program for all full-time employees working 24 or more hours per week and their eligible dependents, including the following:\nHealth, Dental and Vision plans - 100% of premiums are company-paid \nRetirement Savings Plan with a company match\nCompany paid holidays - 3 weeks of vacation\nCompany provided Life and accident Insurance, LTD \nWorklife programs such as Flextime and a variety of Development and Training opportunities \nThis posting relates to an existing vacancy.\nOur hiring process uses both human and technology-assisted (AI) tools to support candidate screening and assessment.
